Design How can I make subreddit rules without descriptions?

See this subreddit for example: r/kittykankles. The rules have no description. When I try to create new rules it says I have to add a description. Any workaround for this?

I'm on desktop

Dont use the rules widget. Use the text box instead.

Lower right corner- Edit Widgets

Add widget

That sub looks like it did use the rules section, it just hadn't filled in the description boxes? At least on old reddit, when I visit their rules, they also don't have descriptions.

When I went to edit a rule on my sub, still on old reddit, I was able to delete the description and save and it didn't give me an error or warning? Can't really check on sh.reddit since it says the page doesn't exist.

yes, just tested deleting the description on old.reddit and it works. But when I go back to new, reddit I still open the description. Not like in the example subreddit, where you can't even open the rules.

/r/KittyLoafies? I don't see a description of your rules on old reddit or sh reddit, but I do see dropdown buttons on sh reddit. But they open up to nothing since it's empty. That may be because you had initially set them up with descriptions, or it may be something that goes away?

IDK if you did anything or if Reddit did just have to process that you cleared the descriptions, but I checked the sub again on sh reddit and the dropdown buttons on the rules are gone! Looks like you got it working like you wanted.

Also I know most visitors to your sub are not on old reddit, but, it would be nice to link to the rules in the sidebar of old reddit so it's easier for them to see, otherwise they can only see the rules if they go to report a post. But that's a separate, smaller thing from your issue.

I had to create the rules on old.reddit. I deleted the rules which I created in new.reddit. IF you create them on new.reddit you get this dropdown menu on old.reddit not

Oh that's so weird! But I'm glad you got it working, and now I also know for the future lol.

Hi /u/xXDildomanXx, please see our Intro & Rules. We are volunteer-run, not managed by Reddit staff/admin. Volunteer mods' powers are limited to groups they mod. Automated responses are compiled from answers given by fellow volunteer mod helpers. Moderation works best on a cache-cleared desktop/laptop browser.

Resources for mods are: (1) r/modguide's Very Helpful Index by fellow moderators on How-To-Do-Things, (2) Mod Help Center, (3) r/automoderator's Wiki and Library of Common Rules. Many Mod Resources are in the sidebar and >>this FAQ wiki<<. Please search this subreddit as well. Thanks!

Found regex match: rules

It looks like you're asking about setting up rules on your subreddit. This is an EXTREMELY frequently asked question, so this auto-response has been set up for any mention of "rules" and "rule".

This must be done On DESKTOP/LAPTOP Browser Only, Not On Mobile Apps. (Limited option: mobile browser on desktop view.) Please check out this guide for more details on what to do.

If you found your answer, feel free to reply with "<3 Automod" or "Thanks, Automod". Otherwise wait for a human helper to come along to help you. This post has NOT been removed.
