Never forget: This is what Marvel decided to release on Christmas Day.

Howard the Duck's divine chosen child.

Game of Thrones used to do that releasing weird stuff on Mother’s Day or Father’s Day.

Honestly the first episode is the only one that failed to entertain me, because the other episodes have actual chemistry between their characters, as well as... actual emotion.

Not to mention I was more grossed out by Zeus casually saying he had an orgy to get to.

Highly in character, but I still didn't need to hear that

The fact that "what if Darcy fucked a duck" was a better episode then "what if hulk fought mechs" is actually insane

I just watched Agatha goes to Hollywood and I think I've lost the will to go on

It's the only s3 ep I liked

Why are we not supposed to like that one?  I thought it was pretty.

Visually stunning, sure, but I refuse to believe Agatha would willingly give up the power of two Celestials, much less one, because "movies are real magic"

She didn’t give up the power— at the end of the episode he makes a comment about other celestials coming and she responds “we’re like that”.   She’s still a celestial, she’s just not using her powers to forcefully remake the earth by hand.

She’ll still use her powers to defend earth.

It was just kinda weird and kinda shows a loss of creativity when deciding a setting. Why does Agatha get into acting, I have no idea, her spells don't get stronger based on her fans. The only excuse is, Agatha's actor was so likeable, let's give her another thing to do.

It just feels like they are writing the story in reverse, let's make something cool and then figure out how we get there. This is what if, the first thing that should be written is how this diverges from Canon then write everything else.

I guess I can see that.  But I have a more generous interpretation— a lot of the “What If” episodes look at what would happen if a tortured lead was just in a healthier situation.  Like Loki growing up with his own family leading to party Thor.

So without changing Agatha’s core personality, what’s an environment where she would feel supported, get what she needs to be secure and healthy, and end up doing more good for her community than harm?   And you consider (1) she needs an unlimited power source to overcome her power requirements and (2) she likes to put on a show (which she does— not to attract fans, but she definitely enjoys a scam).

So where can you run a scam to get unlimited power, and have a ton of fun doing it?  And that’s how we end up solving for midcentury Hollywood.

Tldr— I think most of the WhatIf are really “What if character X was ok?”   Which is still a hard story problem to solve.

Should I skip the Howard the Duck ep??

Personally, I enjoyed the episode, but apparently there are plenty of differing opinions. It's basically a follow-up to the Party Thor episode from season 1, so if you go into it with an understanding that it's not to be taken too seriously, it should be pretty fun.

I really liked it. The actor who plays Darcy is amazing and gives a lot of chemistry with anyone she is there with. It also is a great episode for cameos, where you see the who’s who of the MCU.

Other than one (in-character) orgy comment from Zeus, it’s quite funny and has heart.

Just don’t take it too seriously and you’ll be fine. My son went in planning on hating it and said it wasn’t bad at the end.

I loved it. Silly fun but weirdly touching. POW: I am a parent.

How come they don't have just a random normal dude on staff that says "hey, most of these ideas for shows suck huge ass, this is an animated show, why dont we do some cool shit instead?"

None of these premises have sounded intriguing to me

Mecha Avengers vs Godzilla Hulk sounds like fit should be awesome, but somehow they made it boring.

Glad it wasn’t just me being drunk when I watched it lol.

I’m a huge mecha fanboy so I got stoked when I read the title but it was exactly that…boring.
