... OP is right ? It's OOP's kid but not a kid. Do you know many kids who live with their SO ?

I'm still lost coz my mind ignored the word which it doesn't know the meaning of like 2-3 times before I actually saw that word! But now I'm confused what does it mean? Is it just misspelt "son"? I saw the OOP referring to them by them but well I thought their son apparantly went by those pronouns! It's really confusing nowadays!

It stands for 'significant other'

Ah never have seen that one used as abbreviation! I have mostly seen the use of the word "spouse" which is also gender neutral

How did you write a paragraph about not knowing what a word means without mentioning the word that confused you 😂 glad it got sorted out but this was a funny read

Didn't realise that lol although the comment before me weighed on the "so" and I also mentioned it supposedly being misspelt of "son" so I guess everyone figured out

Son: your male progeny of any age
Kid: Someone that is not an adult
OP, OOP is referring to their ADULT son, not their kid son

Kid: a young person ——often used as a generalized reference to one especially younger or less experienced Their adult son, is still their kid

Yeah /this/ OP (you) didnt read the text. The kidsarestupid OP mentions their kid has a Significant Other. They are an adult

They’re right? Where’s the kid in there

u/Augustus420 Oct 05 '24
Why are people so averse to actually reading?
6
u/CaptainKenway1693 Oct 05 '24
The "kid" is an adult.
1
u/Augustus420 Oct 05 '24
And OP is the parent.

u/CaptainKenway1693 Oct 05 '24
I'm aware. The complaint that others are making is that the OOP's child is an adult, thus not a kid. They are OOP's kid, but not a kid. You can argue about whether that fits the sub or not, but they are arguing that it does not.

My evidence that it fits is a dictionary: kid is :often used as a generalized reference to one especially younger or less experienced” (Merriam-Webster) OOPs kid is still a kid since they’re a younger, less experienced person who did something stupid

The sub rules states that once one is a teenager, they no longer belong on the sub.
1
u/SeaweedOwn7904 Oct 10 '24
It never states “once one is a teenage they no longer become on the sub” it only states that teenage kids aren’t allowed, nothing about adult kids, therefore it doesn’t break the rules

u/glitterfaust Oct 10 '24
You’re not good at comprehension are you lol
Why would an adult count and not a teen
1
u/SeaweedOwn7904 Oct 10 '24
You’re not good at comprehending a joke are you And it’s simply following rules to a tee, posting about an adult kid isn’t against the rules 🤭

I’d wager he’s right. He didn’t post the cat as a kid, posted adults as if they were kids

How in the world did this post get this many upvotes and the OOP got removed. OOP was right

people saying “oh the kids not a kid since they’re an adult” I’m still my parents kid, and the dictionary would still count this since kid is “often used as a generalized reference to one especially younger or less experienced”, KAFS OP is not a lost Redditor, LR OP is a moron, OP was correct

u/glitterfaust Oct 09 '24
No. The subreddit is for children. The subreddit even states once one is a teenager, they no longer qualify to be posted on the subreddit.

u/SeaweedOwn7904 Oct 10 '24
It specifically states kid(not teen) this kid is not a teen, therefore it fits

this is a case of a boomer calling their grown child a kid
now that that's cleared up, you decide whether it belongs in that sub
