THIS ENDS NOW!

I'm so tired of being the fat one. The one whose always overlooked and not taken seriously. The one whose expected to be funny and overly nice. The one whose expected to listen to people's problems, but be left on read when it comes to mine. I'm tired of having low confidence. Tired of not being able to find cute clothes that don't cost a fortune. Tired of the back pain, the health problems. THE DOUBLE CHIN. I'm tired of the old me. The me that's made excuses for myself. The me that's felt sorry for myself all these years. The me that's quit over and over when I didn't see results.

No more excuses. I'm done. I'm ready for a new life. A new me. And it starts now. I don't care how long it takes. I'm going to do whatever it takes. I deserve to be happy I deserve to be healthy. Wish me luck.

Make small changes first, switch from regular to diet, from fried to grilled. Take a long walk after work before joining that expensive gym, Small obtainable goals is key. Then when you have success you can add to it. If you do too much all at once, the stress of it all can cause a backslide. Set small obtainable goal. You didn’t get to your current weight in the last 6 months, there’s no reason to expect to loose it in 6 months. You got this, you can do it.

Thank you so much! I'll definitely keep that in mind. It's a marathon not a race! 💪

I second what u/kylecrawley79 said.

I wouldn't be here, 125+ lb lighter, if I went too hard, too fast. I'm lucky I sort of eased into losing weight. In the beginning, I just cut out my daily sweet cake and beer. I replaced the sweet cake with a piece of fruit and the beer with, well... nothing. And even then, I didn't cut them out completely all at once. I gradually just started alternating days between having a sweet or a piece of fruit, gradually increasing my fruit and weening myself off of sweets.

Within a couple weeks, I was down a couple bad habits, and started looking at the next things I wanted to change. I've continued that throughout my whole weight loss journey, continuously looking for ways to improve my life by replacing bad habits with better ones.

If you give yourself easily attainable goals, it won't feel like much of a change. And after a few weeks or months of reaching goal after goal, you'll look back and realize just how far you've come with seemingly little effort.

I understand what you meant but the implication that marathons aren't races is very funny

It's supposed to be "it's a marathon, not a sprint" but we get it 😊

u/Ixquicc New 7h ago

Hahaha yes that's what I meant! I got a little too excited.

Good luck! And remember, the goal is to move the baseline… not instantly become a new person.

Eat out 6 days a week now? Try to master 5 days a week or less in January. Then 4 days a week or less in February. And when you eat at home? Frozen pizza or things you LIKE that could replace going out. Drink 5 sodas a day? Try 4 and a diet.

Far too often people try to jump to the end. Get to know yourself. Do things that don’t make you hate the process. It’s a marathon and not a sprint. I’ve been at this for over 2 years; feel a million times better. First step for me was literally to just write down what I ate. Not with a calorie limit. Not with really any goal other than keep track. One step at a time. 2.5 years later I’m over 50 lbs down and been maintaining for 14 months. Make the bar so low you can trip over it so you can start to mend that relationship with your self and build trust

I love this comment! Thank you so much! 💓 You're right that's been my issue all this time. Trying to jump and it never ends well. Congrats on your weight loss!!!

Thank you so much!! It really does feel good to take control of your health it really does! Consistently is my problem, but I'll work on it for sure!

Consistency is good, but remember weight loss isn’t linear even when you’re being consistent.

I lost my first five pounds from August to December last year. In January I got serious and lost the next twenty.  June, I stopped tracking the day before I had surgery.  During my 30 days of recovery, I lost four pounds. Some was inflammation because I stopped working out most was because I was Not Snacking At All. I couldn’t be as active as I wanted so it was pure diet. Since that was successful, I decided I was done tracking and wanted to develop the habits I’d need in maintenance as I lost five more pounds to my goal.

That. Took. Months.

But the crazy part is that once I hit goal, I changed nothing and lost about four more pounds. I joke that was my Christmas preparation.

No zero days. Do something for you and your health every day. Do little things. Choose the vegetable side at dinner, not French fries. Stretch for ten minutes. Do a fifteen minute pre bed yoga routine. Go to bed at a reasonable time. Floss. Find a new recipe you want to try. Park at the far end of the parking lot and walk an extra five minutes in and out of the store. Always have a seasonally appropriate outfit that fits you well for the thing you’re most likely to need to look good for. Thrift it for more savings!

Dig in your closet and find a pair of goal pants. Not your final goal, just the ones in your closet you wish fit better. Put them on and take a starting photo. I can see my weight loss more clearly in those than I can in my underwear. Use them for a progress check. If you’re going scale free, they’ll let you know you’re on the right track. When the scale gets stuck, you can see how much better they fit than last time. And when you look damn good in them….wear them out. Enjoy it. And check your closet for other clothes you saved!

You’re starting in a great place! This sub has consistently kept me motivated. I’ve frequently started and given up quickly lots of times but even just lurking here has helped tremendously. Welcome, new reliabili-buddy!

Well done you 🙌

Maybe rather than this ends now, think ‘this starts now’. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and you will work out a lot of things along the way.

The hardest part is starting. Once you find your grove and what works for you, it’ll be smooth sailing. I’m currently on a weight loss journey due to the same reasons. You’ve got this!

I love it! You have a great attitude. The “about this community” section has a lot of really good information. One thing that really helped me was to eat in a calorie range. Anywhere between my TDEE and TDEE-500 kcal is golden.

Lose weight with a maintenance state of mind. Lose for a few weeks then on purpose maintain that weight. Rinse and repeat. Slow and controlled. Otherwise you gain it back plus 20 every.single.time. I have seen it played out so many time by so many women I can’t even count. Half Size Me free podcast can explain better than I can.

You don't need luck, you need a plan. What's yours? Consider sustainability. You can't clock out when try here's a bump in the road or even when you reach your goal(been there, done that multiple times).

I can relate to this so much and it’s exactly what made me finally make a change. You got this!!!! And you will feel so much better physically and mentally.

We'll do you one better than wishing you luck. We'll hold you accountable.

u/LHPC1 New 11h ago

Good luck! I believe in you! If I did it (well almost to my goal) so can you!!

u/Falcon22792 New 7h ago

I literally had a similar rant to myself over christmas. We can fucking do this.

u/Ixquicc New 7h ago

Heck yeah we got this!!

Best advice from someone who’s lost a lot of weight twice (once gained back and now in maintenance)…

Lose weight with the kind of lifestyle you intend to keep forever. I’m not saying the actual calorie cutting amount, but don’t cut out carbs or pick up a new exercise to lose the weight and then ditch that plan as soon as you “get there”. IT WILL ALL COME BACK. The faster you lose the weight the quicker it is to come back on. Easy off = easy on.

Protein intake is huge for weight loss. If you aren’t getting enough protein your body will absolutely breakdown muscle along with fat while you’re losing. Remember the rough/general consensus protein goal is 1g/lb of goal weight. So if goal weight is 150lbs then you start now with 150g of protein a day.

Remember whatever lifestyle you adopt to lose will also be the lifestyle you need to adopt to maintain. Find a life you can LIVE while loosing and then you’ll be set up to live once you get there and you WILL get there!

I was just thinking the same thing and came to post on the sub! You know what, let's do this! We can do this! We will do this! This time I'm going to lose the weight and never let it come back. I can't identify myself in the mirror anymore and so I'm going to transform my lifestyle, sustainably.

All the best – you've got this! But would also consider reassessing your friendships/relationships; regardless of your weight, the people who you're there for should be there for you in return... Not leaving you on read etc.
