Starting a weight loss journey today. Very stressed
Hi guys, I’m starting a weight loss journey today. Given myself a target and I’m very stressed
Here’s my situation- I was 103lbs before I got married (good for my height) and I was doing fine. After getting married (7months ago) I started eating out of boredom. My weight skyrocketed after a miscarriage and now I’m at 134lbs.
Honestly it’s depressing and the worst part is when I’m depressed I eat a lot. Hoping this new journey into losing weight to get pregnant again helps me have a happier life. I’m so negative and sceptical about me actually being able to lose the weight.
Any advice/ suggestions and motivation to push me into winning this battle against sudden weight gain

Hey! Good job taking this first step! I’m no expert by any means, but what’s helped me so far is to track my calories using the lose it app. Using a TDEE calculator https://tdeecalculator.net/ will help you figure out a healthy deficit for your goals, and the app tracking helps me stay diligent.
Would strongly advise against depriving yourself completely of things you enjoy eating, try to portion control instead. You can lose weight without exercising, but finding something you can incorporate into your routine makes it a lot easier.
Lastly, don’t hyper fixate on the scale too much. At your weight you might not lose the weight very quickly, so don’t get discouraged if it takes a few weeks before you start truly seeing results!

Thank you so much! Needed to hear this. I don’t want to deprive myself of the things I love and I do hyper fixate on scale… I’ll keep in mind what you suggested. Will try it out

Congratulations to you! A weight loss journey can be very overwhelming at first but it’s gets easier. When my grandma passed away, I spiraled out of control and all of a sudden was up 50 lbs which motivated me to change.
I started adding more fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet and cut back on the soda. I also started walking up and down my street picking 10 songs to listen to 3x a week and that alone made me lose about 10 pounds in a month. I then counted calories and only drink water mostly. I lost 60 pounds in one year! I’m currently trying to lose about 15 more pounds but I’m not in a rush.
I would say to start with the little things, I did not realize how much extra calories I was consuming. I also invested in a nice scale which helps me measure things out. If I get hungry, I go for non starchy vegetables like cucumber and celery and don’t measure that-sometimes I eat a whole stalk of celery lol but then I’m full for hours.
It’s really good to start slow so you can keep the weight off, and don’t think of it as a diet but more as a healthy lifestyle. I still eat what I want and there are days where I go overboard, but I can catch myself and do better the next day.

Firstly, I’m so sorry for your loss and I understand how the spiral works… I’m glad you were able to get yourself out of it
And thank you so much for your suggestion. I’ll do my walks in a similar way Cz I love music and songs kinda motivate me :) I’ll work on my journey with ur advice :)

I think to take put the stress off yourself is start small so you can establish habits you know u can stick to.
Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise.
Food wise you snack when bored so start by incorporating more fun into your life.
I'm doing the 365 happiness challenge by pop sugar (look it up) that could be a distraction.
Take up a new hobby that gets u out of the house.
Exercise wise do something fun that gets u moving like dancing or swimming etc
