Support Black screen after update iPhone 15 Pro

Hi Folks,

A few days ago my wife’s 1 year old iPhone 15 Pro started to act quite laggy, most apps wouldn’t load/kept crashing etc. Then the phone itself began to do this just navigating the home page and settings. There was a software update for 18.2 sitting there so I tried to start that but the loading wheel just span until the settings tab froze. I also had a look at restoring the phone but couldn’t do this as new terms and conditions needed to be accepted, this couldn’t be done because it would freeze upon trying to load them. After a lot of playing about, I managed to update to 18.2 though iTunes on my PC, now when I open the phone it shows the usual “hello” after an update but once I’ve unlocked the phone to get get started the screen is just black, with a grey bar along the top that shows the time, battery etc.

Hopefully someone has some idea on how to resolve this🙏

I don’t know how to solve this, but you gotta replace that dang screen protector!

That thing has seen better days. Fortunately, he has a screen protector because judging from this post, he definitely needs one. lol.

Try doing a hard reset, Press Volume Up button once and release then, Press Volume Down button once and release then, Hold the Power Button until it vibrates. If not try connecting it to iTunes via a laptop

Man, that phone has seen better days. I wouldn't be surprised if the issue is actually hardware related.

There’s actually not a mark on it, screen protector has been through it though😂

How did you even get those marks on the screen protector? I’ve never had a screen protector randomly crack on me like that unless I’ve dropped the phone.

Either way, send it to a repair technician

It’s my wife’s phone so not entirely sure what she’s done to it, don’t think she even drops it that often, phone looks as good as new bar the screen protector.

I’ve studied tech support methodology extensively, so I feel uniquely equipped to give you an answer.

Its because your screen protector is broken

Hope this helps

How filled is the phone?

A lot of functional issues can happen with the software due to lack of storage.

At this point, after attempting a hard reset, your next move would be to restore the phone. Do not restore from an iCloud backup, as it’s a possibility that the current backup is corrupted.

If the issue persists afterwards, you’d be looking at a replacement (most likely rear system replacement or a mid system replacement).

Only about 60% or so, she’s had full storage issues slow down previous phones but it notifies you that storage is full so it’s not that. Strange thing is, she has went back to her iPhone 13 and that is also starting to slow down today despite being absolutely fine that last few days.

If the 13 is on a newer iOS, it can certainly slow things down. Processing in the 15P will certainly look faster but, I digress.

If all of her stuff is backed up, and she’s OK with it, I would restore the 15P and setup as new. Just sign in with the AppleID and password, no iCloud restore, and see if the issue is solved. If not, like I said, it’s hardware related.

It’s the next step a technician would take in an Apple Store.

Will never understand why someone pays for a Pro model but walks around with an ugly cracked screen

Because it’s a screen protector and you actually don’t notice the cracks at all when actually using the device. I literally only notice them when the phone is off. That’s fine for me.

I think I heavily use the phone, even take it to hiking and practical shooting sports. But mine is like 1000% more pristine than this. I don’t know how people use the phone? Tossing it to concrete floor after every use?

Nah vro you drop it once outside and the screen protector cracks at the edges but you don’t really notice it so why change it. That’s my thinking.

Think I dropped mine like a week after getting a new screen protector, shit is scuffed up at the edges but idrc. It’s not like I’ve damaged the phone. But it’s whatever you’re comfortable with yfm

I cannot count how many times I dropped my phone. But the only thing changed is there are some scratches on my case, not the protector. It’s not that easy to crack.

Fair, the only times I’ve damaged the protector is when it lands face first, but maybe I’m just buying garbage tier screen protectors
