Meta PSA: No more U-20 related threads
Good afternoon, komodongs and komodettes. Since the past 24 hours, we have noticed a huge influx of posts relating to the U-20 World Cup 2023 fiasco. While we understand that this development has been met by mixed responses, both domestically and internationally, unfortunately this also causes this subreddit to be cluttered with too many U20-related shitposts, memes, repetitive news posts, as well as a lot of circlejerking, doomerism comments and inflammatory remarks. Thus, there will be new, temporary rules with regards to these issues:
Strictly no more posts related to the U-20 World Cup 2023. This includes memes, social media posts, funny videos, infographics, discussion posts as well as some news posts,
Only news posts that are allowed have to be from proper news websites. If the content of the news article is jerkbaiting or ragebaiting, redundant, repetitive and does not bring anything new, it will be removed at mods' discretion,
Posts and comments still have to abide by subreddit and site-wide rules. Please report them if there is violation,
Anything related to U-20 World Cup 2023 has to be posted in the Megathread.
Failure to comply will result in a-day ban.
These rules will be in effect per today 2023/03/30 at 17.00 WIB until TBC. Any posts before will not be removed.

Since it is already official that Indonesia will not host U-20 World Cup 2023 and our U-20 team has been disbanded, these rules will cease to have effect starting from today 18.30 WIB.

I agree there shouldn't be spam of U20 content, but there still should be place for people to talk about it.

Begitu ada indikasi atau komplain flooding suatu topik tertentu maka otomatis langsung dibikin megathread. Jadi intinya perilaku flooding seperti ini tetap diberikan ruang hingga parameter tertentu tapi juga tidak di-encourage sampai dengan terlalu luas.
Parameternya misal kalau semisal dalam 2 hari ada 8 post tentang topik yang sama maka itu otomatis udah count as flooding. Kl perlu, bukin flair "Hot News" Jadi kalau semisal mau post yang berkaitan dengan itu harus pakai flair hot news bahkan meskipun itu sebenarnya bentuknya link news, meme, atau discussion. Intinya kalau semisal kamu menyebut keyword dari hot news itu (eg Kanjuruhan, U20, pemilu, etc), that's Hot News. Yes, bahkan meskipun yang di pos adalah berita dari link yg kredibel itu tetap diperlakukan sebagai flair yg berbeda, karena 69.42% pasti ada muncul lingkarancap/colingkar dan doomposting. Kalau semisal menggunakan keyword tapi tidak pakai hot news otomatis hapus
Berguna juga kalau semisal memang ada dari mereka yang nggak begitu suka ngikutin dan bisa mute fair hot news

Is this going to be a precedent going forward for this sub? Not that I disagree with consolidating a topic into a megathread, but honestly it's still very mild (in the amount of posts and discussion) compared to other "trends", Sambo or Mario case for example. If it is, what the guidelines for future trending topic to be consolidated and forced into single megathread instead? If not, why this topic is an exception? It's very related to indonesia afterall, so technically not violating any sub rules.
Also while we at it, any mods want to give explanation of locked and removed comment chain in the first thread of the U-20 cancellation? I don't see anything worth forced removal in that comment chain and everyone actually still taking in civil discussion when suddenly that chain is locked and removed.

It depends. In this case, some people decided to use this opportunity to spread hate towards a certain group of people which is why we have to resort to this. I personally cannot speak for previous "trends" though.

I think the focus should be more on repetitive content spam.
Di beberapa subreddit ada batasan X number of post per topic di page 1 subredditnya. Jadi a certain topic doesn't hog the whole subreddit. Apalagi kalau postnya cuman gambar meme doang. Saat ini bisa dibilang lebih dari 75% post di page 1 r/indonesia topicnya ttg pildun u-20. Yang postnya cuman gambar meme doang 50%nya paling.

We have a megathread for it, that's the middle ground.
Also I think it is justified. If you know how redditors here work, even when there's nation-wide scandal like kasus Mario atau Sambo you can still find other posts unrelated to that topic here and there.
But these past 2 days, there is nothing but U-20 posts. Even worse I found one redditor who has like 10+ posts about U-20 for the past two days. So yeah the containing the topic is the only proper.

Personally, I find Sambo and Mario spam is much more annoying. This one is much more understandable since we just got official FIFA announcement which is the worst case scenario for us. This is the climax part. Besides if the problem is spam, a better way is to just banning low effort posts like memes or funny tag. This problem exposes a lot of issue in the country which each could be a good discussion in itself.

Ini gimana rule nomor 2? Mau post news kok ga boleh? Arbitrary banget. Trying to post news from proper website and bring something new, why is still not allowed? Diperjelas kalau news diperbolehkan yah diperbolehkan kalau engga yah engga. Udah sesuai rule kok not allowed. Mohon sekiranya jangan juga terlalu lama karena mau gamau pasti ini bakalan berkaitan sama aspek hidup yang lain

You can post news but in megathread. It's literally written in the rules.
Since hari ini sudah official bahwa Indonesia bukan tuan rumah dan tim U-20 dibubarkan, these rules will cease effectively today, 18.30 WIB. If you want to post the news on the sub main page, you can post after that timing. I will inform other mods and do the necessary changes and announcements. Thanks for your patience.

honestly, mate. I am sick of with U-20 posts and blah blah blah. It's because, first, I don't like football, second, it's about politics with israel palestina and I think it's not our concern. We just need to be in a neutral position, not pro with one or the other. Besides, it's been decided too, so yeah I agree that no more thread about U-20. I am bored whenever I open instagram, all the news is about that, and so does reddit. I just want to escape and find something to make me laugh or discuss something insightful, not talking about politics, wars, and this kind of recent issue.
