GROHE shower faucet/handle with random switches

Hello! Wondering if anyone knows what this switch on the side of my GROLE shower faucet/handle thing is? Like what does it do?

It doesn’t seem to do anything when I hold it down, with the shower on or off, but I may be doing it wrong - I tried a couple ways for like 10 minutes before giving up.

If anyone can tell me if these have a purpose or not, I’d really appreciate it!

FYI the top knob turns on the shower head/handheld shower, the middle one controls temp, and the lower knob turns on the water jets and each of the knobs have this little button/switch thing you can hold down - I just don’t know what those switches do - I doubt it’s an anti-scalding device since it’s on ALL of the handles, but maybe someone else knows or I tested it wrong

For context, my shower doesn’t get as hot as my sink, which gets significantly hotter, so we thought the shower handle switches controlled the anti-scalding feature but after trying it, I had no results. After trying to find the GROHE shower model online to give me more info, I was unsuccessful so came here
