“Get Rich & Don’t Die Tryin’.” Personal tips from an old player to new players, on how to get wealthy.

I was asked today by a new player for some tips on how to earn big bucks in GTA, and I wrote him back some of my personal strategies, that helped me make hundreds of millions, without even trying to achieve that.

Encouraged by a fellow redditor, I decided to repost them, as a separate thread, in hope that they can be useful for other new players. Any other suggestions from the established players will surely be appreciated.

Here’s what helped me get rich in GTA Online and what I personally recommend:

  • Try to follow some YouTubers who can give you weekly tips on what’s worth buying and what business/weekly bonuses are worth doing. Don’t jump into spending your earnings on vehicles and businesses you’re not familiar with. Some are worth it, some aren’t, so you risk putting dollars in the wrong places. Start with businesses that will help you gather passive income. The acid lab is free, you only have to finish six missions to get it (and if you do six more, you’ll get also a free sports car). Start with the acid lab, then buy a nightclub, a bunker, an agency, an office, etc. Don’t force yourself into buying them all at once, see which ones are discounted each week. The Cayo is still a reliable source of income, so, when you have the possibility, consider buying a submarine, if you’re up for heists.

  • Try to win the casino car each week, if it’s one that you like. There are tips on YouTube on how to do that. Try to win the prize ride car from LS customs each week, if it’s one that you like. After you’ve eventually bought the Salvage Yard, complete the robberies that repay you with cars that you can keep.

  • Try to find a friendly grinding lobby, that is on 24/7. You will get a bonus when selling your businesses, you won’t get griefed and you will be able to find help from others, if needed.

  • Start by investing in useful vehicles, not cool ones. An armored Kuruma is far from being the coolest car in the game, but it’s cheap and incredibly useful for many missions and heists. If you are on next-gen console, buy a Hakouchou Drag bike and customize it. It can help you win each week 250k, if you do the HSW Time Trial, and 100k more if you do the regular one.

  • If you can keep the game open while you’re away, keep it. You’ll make dollars without effectively playing.

  • Pay attention to free-roaming activities that can help you gain small earnings. Pay attention to the daily list of animals required to be photographed. Many have regular spawning spots and you can photograph them even when you’re on a mission, as you pass by, for an easy 20k (100k daily, if you photograph them all). Spin the casino wheel each day, you may earn cash, discounts and even surprise vehicles. If you see a red dot near a store, follow it, shoot the burglar and take the cash back to the store, for a 20k reward. Blue dots will also offer you the opportunity to make some dough. There are a lot more activities and some take less than 30 seconds to be completed.

  • Plan ahead a list of missions, since they have different cooling-off periods. Here’s an example: start by delivering the bike from your motorcycle club (50k profit), then sell weapon parts from the bunker (50k profit), then export mixed goods from the office (50k profit). It shouldn’t take you more than 15-20 minutes to do them all, and you earn 150k. Then play something else and repeat these actions in 30-40 minutes. See what works for you, what you enjoy doing; make your own routine. If it’s not fun playing it, then it’s not worth the pay.

This is, in fact, the ultimate rule: have patience and have fun. Play the game regularly, try to enjoy it, and the big bucks will pile up.

Yes, you’re right. I was under the impression I hadn’t pay for the Acid Lab. Still, doing Dax’ missions will pay for the Acid Lab conversion and the set-up cost is one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) of all the other profitable businesses. So it’s a good business to have in mind as a new player. A single sell can net you 530k in a full lobby.

If you don’t own any businesses yet, then I would do the following: photograph the required 3 animals (100k daily), do the junk energy trial (50k), look for G’s cache and for other free-roaming activities (the store burglar, smuggler’s cache, etc). The Weazel Plaza Shootout event offers money as reward on subsequent playthroughs (25k). Winning two adversary modes this week will give you also 100k bonus. Check the daily objectives, see if you can do them, they’re worth 30k, if I remember correctly. Spin the fortune wheel. Accept CEOs invites to become associate, you’ll earn money even if you don’t effectively help them (10k/10 minutes).

As soon as you have enough money to build the Acid Lab, start producing acid. Boost the acid production each day. In 3 hours you will have a full stock to sell. During these 3 hours try to make some more money to upgrade the delivery bike, it’s not too expensive. Sell acid in a full lobby for extra bonus. If you are griefed during the sell, quit the game. The upgraded delivery bike can take up to 4 missiles before exploding, so, unless you fall in water, you will have enough time to quit the game. This way you will lose only an insignificant part of your product.

Don't underestimate some of the other "normal tasks" - LS Tags ($100k per day), finding the daily shipwreck, etc. I have a daily to-do list that I run through for the easy money each time I log on.

Yes sir, LS tags and daily shipwreck are another good source of income, thank you for adding them. And tracking down the locations is also fun. Having a daily to-do is clearly very helpful, I would recommend to any regular GTA player to create an own daily routine.

I enjoy tracking down the tags less. LOL. Fortunately, if you come to this subreddit and search “daily,” there are 4 posts per day telling you where to find LS Tags, the shipwreck, drug dealers, and Cayo Perico treasure posted each day. :-)

What do you mean by “find a friendly grinding lobby that is in 24/7“? Is there a Website or Discord for such lobbys? Or is it just switching lobbys until you find one where you not getting killed?

These lobbies are invite only. You won’t be able to find them unless you know the users who are hosting them. These lobbies are usually promoted on GTA Facebook groups.

I am and I’ve been part of the same PS5 group/lobby for more than a year (before I’ve been part of another one). We comunicate on a Discord group. We have rules (the main one is to never blow up another player’s sell missions) and we help each other. We also benefit from the High Demand bonus.
