Information Geological ages

Hi! I am an archaeology student. I am working on a paper rn and I need to get some concepts cleared about geological time (the names of the ages are usually mentioned when discussing topography or climate). It gets confusing to understand these terms completely. Could someone recommend some books/journals that could help me get started? Thanks :)

honestly you could write a book on this and i suspect people have. But mostly when someone says cretaceous period you want to know roughly when it existed and naturally each eon/era/period/epoch/age can be more finely divided etc etc. https://stratigraphy.org/ICSchart/ChronostratChart2024-12.pdf

is a decent chart, it has ages next to each panel. all you need to do is imagine them stacked on top of one another and find the eon/era/period/epoch/age mentioned and read the appropriate time range.

on the geologic time scale? No. Honestly most would only be interesting to a paleontologist or geologist anyhow. Not that it is technically complicated but there would be a lot of references you would need to understand to get the context.
