Meteorites tend to have a dark fusion crust caused by melting of the surface as it plummets through the Earth's atmosphere. This doesn't.

I found this rock in my backyard about 15 years ago while metal detecting. Though it did get picked up on the metal detector it is not magnetic. It is oddly heavy for its size and does have some little shiny parts on it.

weight: 13g/ 0.4oz

I live in north-east NJ.

(the marker is just for scale! haha)

If this is not the right area to post this, can someone please recommend a group?

Thanks!

Looks like lead oxides?, it's about the size of a musket ball, It's amorphous tho,so it's unlikely to be one,

Can you run it under water and clean it with a sponge or toothbrush? It's either covered in dirt or is just compacted mud with gravel in it
