I'm curious how the British would handle the scenario.

Invade France?

30

u/Humorpalanta 12h ago

You mean... Business as usual?

7

u/Corvatz123 12h ago

What else would be there to do?

1

u/Old-Bread3637 6h ago

Stuff France invade Spain. Plus they won’t put up as much of a fight

33

u/BarristanTheB0ld 15h ago

Rule the waves of course

41

u/AncientMarinerCVN65 18h ago

They and the Dutch and Belgians are welcome here in the US. But we don’t want any more Irish! We got enough of them! Aww Hell, we’ll take everybody.

19

u/Tiny_Megalodon6368 18h ago

Haha you should take more Irish. They've improved since you took the first lot.

11

u/McTacobum 15h ago

Some big green lady with a torch just shed a tear somewhere

6

u/StolenDabloons 13h ago

Man those Mexicans will be pissed with you throwing up the gates like that lol

6

u/Doc_Occc 15h ago

They'll adapt and fulfill the ultimate destiny for Britain to become Atlantis.

3

u/Odd-Consequence8892 9h ago

Keep calm and carry on

6

u/yetix007 12h ago

Well, London is gone, and there's more water between us and France, so overall, it's a huge win.

2

u/chroma_kopia 17h ago

Heeeeyyy.. it's not too bad after all.

3

u/Stupid_Dragon 18h ago

Will remember their good ole seawolf traditions, scallywag.

1

u/LucianoWombato 12h ago

I mean they were the greatest nation of seafarers after all

0

u/MethturbationEnjoyer 12h ago

You mean britain

0

u/J1mj0hns0n 11h ago

wed all be dead. but dont worry theyve been saying this is going to happen for decades. and one day it will, but slowly over decades, by which time britain/france/spain/germany might not mean anything anymore.

u/Tiny_Megalodon6368 18h ago

If this starts happening build a long canal and refill the Aral Sea.

13

u/doston12 18h ago

Waiting for it :)

u/dog_be_praised 17h ago

Any post which shows sea level rise more than 70 meters (the total amount of water on the planet) should be banned.

23

u/Brendissimo 15h ago

These types of maps are so lazy and are a staple of repost bots for well over a decade.

When the reality is even a few feet of sea level rise will have drastic consequences, and 100m rise is an insane, unserious scenario. But a few feet (what will actually happen in the next century) doesn't make for a dramatic map.

159

u/echoinear 17h ago

But then how would we prepare for when ur mom goes for a swim?

-64

u/dog_be_praised 16h ago

Yeah you're right, geography isn't a real science anyway. Plenty of future baristas on this sub.

8

u/Big-Key7789 9h ago

Are you dull? It's a joke bro

-6

u/1ksel 14h ago

It is science, but I completely concur about mentality of those kids from vexilogy and alt history. Just a garbage hobby of dreaming while could simply build rockets and colonise mars...

21

u/Micah7979 16h ago

That's what would happen if the sea level rose by 100m, it's correct even though it couldn't happen. But I agree that it maybe belongs more to r/mapporncirclejerk.

1

u/Humorpalanta 12h ago

But you ignore the fact that the Dutch will not stop asking the sea to "gib clay"!!!!

18

u/Heavy-Network-4360 17h ago

As an Austrian, it definitely sucks not having access to the sea. On the other hand though..

18

u/Kamel-Red 15h ago

Doesn't sea level rise max out around 70m with 100% melt? As in zero ice.

8

u/centaur98 10h ago

yes, it does this is a scenario which is impossible and not in the "global warming isn't real" sense but in the "there isn't enough water on the surface of Earth for it to happen"

1

u/Big-Key7789 9h ago

Unless OP's mom decides to go for a swim

13

u/StrongElderberry8952 17h ago

No way Netherlands gone, they're gonna dam the whole coastline

18

u/MarkTwainsLeftNipple 17h ago

The Dutch would build huuuuge dikes and survive

8

u/yetix007 12h ago

"And as you can see, if all the ice caps melted we'd lose so much la... why is the Netherlands bigger?"

"Oh ja zo ve saw de warter gettings high und started makings ze dikes und got a little bit carried avay ja"

3

u/Beautiful_Role_1168 11h ago

I’m curious as to why you think this even remotely resembles a Dutch accent lmao

3

u/Taxfraud777 11h ago

He's confusing us with the Germans like everyone does

1

u/yetix007 9h ago

Putting Dutch accent into text doesn't work because it was clearly created as a mockery of the German language, while also annoying the French. It's a masterpiece really.

1

u/yetix007 9h ago

Please, do better, like genuinely, I want to improve it so I can better mock my Dutch friend.

17

u/Proof_Traffic_7095 18h ago

Why TF would a landlocked country - Hungary - become submerged?

29

u/Aleograf 17h ago

The Danube

17

u/MysticEnby420 16h ago

Yeah people don't realize sea level rise means groundwater level rise and river widening as well.

-10

u/Proof_Traffic_7095 15h ago

I still doubt that. There are thousands of kms before the river reaches the sea. The excess water would disperse there

10

u/omygodifuckinhateyou 15h ago

Do you not understand elevation or

6

u/HighwayInevitable346 14h ago

You have no fucking idea how rivers work, they cant drain a basin that's below sea level.

As sea level rises high tide would reach further and further up the canyon until the lowlands in the basin start flooding. The only way to stop it would be to dam the canyon and pump out the danube at least as fast as it flowed in.

3

u/skippy_nk 15h ago

Pannonian sea was there like a milion years ago or something so maybe some underground waters and some shit that remained underneath idk?

6

u/PaleoEdits 17h ago

Adjö, Danskjävel. /j

2

u/turbothy 15h ago

Vi må jo bare tage Sverige tilbage.

2

u/PaleoEdits 15h ago

Ni kan få Skåne, det är lungt.

2

u/bandit4loboloco 15h ago

Is that Danish for "Adios"?

4

u/as1992 17h ago

What is the point of posting something that will never happen?

5

u/markejani 17h ago

How would Hungary get flooded?

6

u/ClarkyCat97 16h ago

They might be Hungary, but at least they wouldn't be thirsty.

1

u/44-47-25_N_20-28-5-E 16h ago

There was a sea in those regions, that's why 80% of those lands are flat

1

u/Optimal-Pie-2131 13h ago

Much more water front property for Lake Balaton!

1

u/labicicleta- 12h ago

Pannonian sea

-2

u/ur_sexy_body_double 17h ago

finally someone asking the important question

4

u/hallouminati_pie 18h ago

Bye bye England, bye bye Nederlands, bye bye Belgium, bye bye Ireland.

-9

u/Fantastic_Class_3861 18h ago edited 17h ago

Not "bye bye Belgium" but "bye bye Flanders," which means only two national languages remaining: French and German. Goodbye to separatist parties like N-VA and Vlaams Belang, and goodbye to dumb rules about languages. For example, a train conductor in Flanders greeted passengers in both Dutch and French but was reported by someone for saying "hello" in French in Flanders. I think Belgians would be much happier if this happened. (Source, Source). Similarly, in municipalities around Brussels where most people speak French, municipal employees are prohibited from speaking French to residents and risk being fired if they do so (Source).

u/mardegre 15h ago

Wrong sub bro

-16

u/Cosmicshot351 18h ago

Allah ensures only Anadolu (Northern and Southern) is left

8

u/No_Slice9934 18h ago

Mountains through tectonic movement ensures that

3

u/Wooden-Bass-3287 17h ago

There is not enough water in the world to achieve this.

9

u/ur_sexy_body_double 17h ago

not with that attitude

1

u/Rhylan209 17h ago

Wales is staying strong

1

u/soc96j 16h ago

Funny how the 214m high Cliffs of Moher and sourrounding mountains in the west of Ireland are flooded.

1

u/Micah7979 16h ago

Balaton Lake is apparently now a sea.

1

u/WinterRespect1579 16h ago

I wonder how that would change weather patterns

1

u/Spion-Geilo 16h ago

False, the Dutch would never surrender!

1

u/Tabo1987 15h ago

So not even then Austria gets back access to the sea 😅

1

u/kaoc02 15h ago

Still no sea connection for austria. We need trieste back!

Italy may have slimmed down but that calf muscle is still poppin'

1

u/shitty-dick 14h ago

Hahah that's super cool now do 100 kilometers

1

u/brain_of_fried_salt 14h ago

And nothing of value was lost.

1

u/AcidaliaPlanitia 14h ago

Where'd the Faroe Islands go? They have several peaks way, way over 100 meters.

1

u/bugsy42 14h ago

Czechia still without a sea. Typical.

1

u/Wild-Wolverine-860 14h ago

This is pretty stupid though, is t sea level expected to rise a couple metres if we continue to warm the world at current levels? If all the ice in the world melts I think it's only 50m rise? The world cannot make more water so 100m is Impossible.

1

u/-_-Jack-_- 14h ago

These 100 meter sea level rise posts happen periodically and every time they look different! Waste of time looking at this

1

u/centaur98 10h ago

it's also straight up impossible to happen since if we melted all ice and snow on the surface of the Earth the sea level would still only rise by give or take 70 meters

1

u/Drunken_Dave 14h ago

There is no way the Southern Romanian part of the Danube not becoming visibly wider much more westward on a map like this. Downstream from the Iron Gates the left bank is not really hilly and it is evidently lower than the Great Plain in Hungary and Northern Serbia, because the river flows down.

At the other hand there should be an island south of Danube Delta, because a considerable part of Dobruja is higher than 100 m.

Well, resolution issues, they went for big picture I guess.

1

u/Jniuzz 14h ago

The dutch will never lose to the sea again!

1

u/CrueltySquadMODTempt 14h ago

Fuck everyone else in Italy, my region is still completely fine and my family is safe.

1

u/notthisonefornow 14h ago

Luckely the rise of the sealevel is around 70m if ALL ice melts.

1

u/PhantomOps1121 13h ago

Hey Ferb, I know what we're doing today.

1

u/Sea_Personality_2666 13h ago

1

u/TakeMeIamCute 13h ago

This area alone has 14 peaks higher than 100m.

1

u/prelavaggio 13h ago

So you are speaking about europe in 2100

1

u/Henry-Gruby 13h ago

That's wrong, I live in a coastal city which is at sea level but it still sppears on your map.

1

u/FrostyAlphaPig 13h ago

What’s with the lake in Eastern Europe?

1

u/woodpigeon01 13h ago

Looks like what’s left of Ireland is flipping Britain the bird.

1

u/r4n6e 13h ago

How does Hungary always get to be a sea itself?! We are joking that we had a sea shore and lost it (Croatia), but this is too ironic even for my taste.

1

u/generalraptor2002 12h ago

Bye bye Netherlands

1

u/EverestMaher 12h ago

Too much France try again

1

u/Ingolfen 12h ago

u/HarvesterOfSorrow_88 12h ago

What the fuck happened to Hungary and Serbia?

1

u/Low_Inspection3597 12h ago

Беженцы поедут в Россию? Это было бы неплохо. Надеюсь цивилизованные европейцы вытеснят диких туркестанцев, которые заполонили Россию.

1

u/Chirsbom 12h ago

Looks a lot better imo.

1

u/Swiss_Reddit_User 12h ago

Pretty chill over here ngl

1

u/satiscop 11h ago

1

u/7_11_Nation_Army 11h ago

Tbf it looks ALMOST perfect (I like The Netherlands).

1

u/Maxico-City 11h ago

We could save the mediteranian sea via the atlantropa project.

1

u/ccr87315 11h ago

How many F1 circuits will be gone?

1

u/Curious_Olive_5266 11h ago

The black sea was more successful at taking Ukraine than Russia ever was.

1

u/AlexiousTheMisthios 10h ago

Good. Denmark is gone xd

1

u/Even_Guest_9920 10h ago

The Netherlands becomes the Not-there-lands

1

u/StukaJi86 9h ago

Why did Denmark get pushed so far east sudden realization

Nvm..

1

u/Anesthetize01 9h ago

Never liked Denmark anyway ;)

1

u/Big-Independence-291 7h ago

This would cause British and Dutch go completely mad on colonialism

(I think Dutch would rather raise their country by 101 meter)

1

u/FixMy106 7h ago

GEKOLONISEEEE.... no ok byeeee

1

u/Standard-Ad6994 6h ago

Switzerland chilling as always

1

u/spoop-dogg GIS 16h ago

1

u/ToadLoaners 12h ago

What if a giant moon sized orb of water crashed into earth out of nowhere but quite softly so that it didn't disturb things too much just ended up adding a fuck load of water to the place, huh? what then???

0

u/SirSolomon727 17h ago

What are the odds

-1

u/l8on8er 17h ago
