Sexuality Double Mitzvah

Convert here so definitely not an expert on Halakha hence the following question:

Sex on Shabbat is double mitzvah (mitzvot?). But I’ve been told that’s because we are told to “Go forth and multiply,” and enjoy/relax on the Sabbath. As a queer Jew in a same sex relationship, the sex I have has no chance of leading to procreation. Is this still double mitzvah?

Interesting question. Is it a double mitzvot for an infertile heterosexual couple? Do you have a Rabbi you can ask?

I live in a pretty small town in the Midwest of the US and we lost our rabbi this last year. The search is on but no idea when we’ll find a new one. Last search took a few years.

Depends on your interpretation of Torah and Talmud. The Talmud argues that any kind of sex, even infertile varieties like oral and anal, are positive between male-female couples because it improves their relationship which is a mitzvah. However, the improvement of their relationship being a mitzvah is related to the biological productivity of their relationship; it's only a mitzvah if the man finishes inside his wife.

So if the sex is just for pleasure, then it's not really a mitzvah, but that's also debatable because it fosters love between members of a partnership, same-sex or not.

I mean from a Halachic perspective, it’s not a mitzvah at all. That’s not me making any kind of judgement, I’m gay myself. Up to you how you want to think of things!

And then to complicate matters further, there are sex toys with sperm enabling female-female couples to make a baby.
