Forza Motorsports: NASCAR Daytona…how?

On multiplayer it seems like everyone has a cheat code except for me. In qualifying people are doing 43 second laps and I'm in the 45s. In the race, they just leave me behind. It seems like everyone else figured out how to disable the restrictor plates or something? What am I missing here?

Setup. Setups completely change the cars

Besides setup, during the race, make sure you’re drafting nearly constantly. You can gain 10-15+ mph, no joke by drafting constantly! Also never brake!!

Also smooth steering inputs can make a massive difference.

0 downforce, max ride height front, min ride height rear, tune gearing towards speed, high pressures on front tires, med pressure on rear( i run 3.1 front 2.1 rear), stiffen the springs ( mines at 90% roughly both at front and rear) guess i didnt forget anything. Also, some people "remove" last gear so you are permanently on 4th gear for maximum power output without redlining

That’s crazy that’s the same tune setup since Forza 4.

This game is a reskinned forza 3/4. Blatant lies about rebuilding the game.

2 seconds isn't cheating op. lol

Tunes. Quick tip is get rid of all aero and adjust ride heights to get the spoiler out of air. Good luck.

It’s car set ups and drafting strat’s people are using to gain and keep the lead, there is also a bit of smooth steering and good throttle required for good lap times. Manual gearing, NoSTM, NoTSC etc..

Turn down your rear down force and set the gearing more towards the speed side of the slider.

number of contributing factors for setting best quali:

- proper tune race setup

- driver skill (when you hear the tires scrub, that's lost time, speed, and increased tire wear)

- wheel>controller on ovals for both quicker times and less tire wear. wheels are point perfect and can hold a line easily vs controller

- PC>console. some pc users exploit the 60fps settings (fix: console needs 120fps like GT7 added 2 years ago)

sorry but 45's is not competitive. upper 43's is doable on console and controller. quicker than that you need the above to squeeze out the quickest quali times.

console needs 120fps like GT7 added 2 years ago

Then people on Series S or without 120Hz displays will just be left out.

They need to fix whatever issue causes cars to have more grip at higher refresh rates

physics is tied to framerates.

series S is unfortunately underpowered but they shouldn't hold the series X back

1

u/dancovich 11h ago

So your argument is that Series X shouldn't be left behind in relation to PC players but it's ok to leave Series S and TVs without 120Hz support behind?

Looks like to me your argument is "I shouldn't be left behind".

How about this: nothing should be arbitrarily held back?

1

u/dancovich 5h ago

Nothing is being arbitrarily held back.

PC is restricted online because their physics engine makes cars faster at higher framerates. Series X doesn't support 120fps because they couldn't make the game run at a consistent framerate above 60fps.

Every limitation has a reason. Nothing is arbitrary

u/shitarse 5h ago

You could be right. We don't really know honestly - it doesn't seem that implausible to run a 4k 60 game at 120 (or vrr unlocked even). I agree fixing the physics would be an ideal first step though.

Exactly. If the game just fluctuates between 60 and 90fps, that doesn't solve the issue because PCs can go way higher and the issue wouldn't really be fixed.

Id rather have them focusing in fixing the issue and then they can let any platform run at any framerate

not really about me. i have both a XBsX and PC and a wheel. just trying to help the poster understand the variables at play.

series S is budget entry and should not hold the majority of players (pc and XBsX) back.

Forget Series S, you need a TV with 120Hz support for this to work. These are expensive and people don't just switch TVs when new ones are released.

So not only you're leaving out Series S players with your solution (which MS knows are the majority of players), you're also leaving out Series X players that don't have a 120Hz TV.

120Hz monitors are dirt cheap man..

1

u/dancovich 5h ago

120Hz TVs are not. Not everyone has a setup with their consoles on a monitor. And it's important to remember, not everyone lives in countries where 120hz monitors are "dirt cheap".

Besides

Option A: Spend time and money making the game somehow run at 120Hz on Series X, knowing it won't work on Series S and people without 120Hz sets can't use the feature

Option B: Fix whatever causes the physics simulation to give the car more grip at higher framerates, fixing the issue for everyone and allowing PC players to play online at unlocked framerates.

Why is everyone defending option A?

I’m just being realistic. Untying the tick rate from the frame rate likely is going to be damn near impossible without them actually rebuilding the entire game from scratch.

By your logic, all Xbox Series S/X and PC users should be limited to 30 FPS in FH5 online so Xbox One users don’t get “left behind”.

Should we also force all users to use office-grade monitors with 7 ms response times so no one feels left out?

No. By my logic, gameplay features shouldn't be tied to visual features so this doesn't happen.

I know it's impossible to completely avoid this, I'm not naive. In this case, they claimed to have built the engine from scratch and specifically praised a new physics model yet this issue that was present in past titles made it through.

It's not like 120fps on Series X is a on/off switch. They would need to make the engine more efficient or else Series X would just fluctuate between 60 and 90fps and only reach 120fps in menus.

So if they were to dedicate resources to optimize the engine to reach reliable 120fps on Series X, I would rather have them dedicate this effort in fixing the physics engine.

not sure where to go from here. i'd say most pc monitors can handle it and there are a number of affordable tv's with high refresh rates even over 120hz and have hdmi 2.1

but you may respond with, "what about South Africa's electrical crisis with loadshedding and all" tic ;P

i'll dip here and say, "no mas". thx

u/dancovich 10h ago

Or... Expect T10 to actually fix the issue that causes framerate to affect grip in the first place like i said 3 or 4 posts ago.

Making the game run at a consistent 120Hz on Series X in the first place would take an immense amount of engineering work - it's not like there's much headroom to work with in the first place. I would rather have them dedicate this engineering work to improve their physics engine.

my economics professor had a response for this:

feel the same way I can go qualify 4 or 5 people by the start of the race I'm 6 -10 most of the time can someone give us both some insight please and thank you

Yea, everyone is downloading the user: Jarhead's tune to achieve the 43.2 for the most part. As others have said, if on controller, adjust the steering deadzone (I like around 55 - 58), traction control on (not needed for Daytona, but i find it helps prevent a lot of wrecks from getting bigger when i can maneuver a loose tuned car quickly and it doesnt ever engage otherwise), simulation steering, and I usually put Acceleration deadzone to 80. If on wheel do your thing.

There are other tunes in the 43's, but all have different styles. Just make sure you're in the lead pack drafting and you'll be fine.

Yes I try also to go practice and experiment with different setup I'll spend like an hr atost just changing setups had this game since day one and I still suck.

u/Naughty_Alpacas 12h ago

It’s almost entirely the setup/tune. Search tunes when in multiplayer and use the 5 star popularity one for “Daytona Oval”, that is what everyone uses.

In the race itself, it’s all about drafting and finding a drafting buddy when can go that speed and won’t wreck you. Drafting will take off another ~0.5-1 second or so.
