Yeah, MBS* was really sneaky with his racist "rapper" statement... Which was a few days ago.

I've always seen him as a passionate for the sport who happens to have a strong business personality. Direct and doesn't give a fuck. He has some controversial quotes, but at least he said it because he believed in it.

u/Markitron1684 BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 22 '24
Yea, but he’s also a Vladimir Putin apologist so there’s that.

u/AntonyPancake I have an unhealthy obsession with Sophia Flörsch Sep 22 '24
Calling him an apologist is generous. He's said that he would take a bullet for him

yeah he has numerous fucked up view points but the new guys are even more corrupt and easy to buy. the sport is losing credibility fast.

Denying brazil a title in 08 is a much greater offense but idk man you do you 🤷♂️
Edit: damn people really can't take a joke

That’s the year Ferrari sent Massa down the pitlane with a fuel hose, right? In Singapore. Why’d Beenie make them do that?
2
u/thedvdias BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 22 '24
My comment was a joke but I guess it pissed off people 🤣
Basically he said that they knew about crashgate during the 08 season but delayed the investigations so they wouldn't have to deal with it during the championship. It was easier for them to wait until next january.
2
u/Lzinger Trust the El 🅱️lan Sep 22 '24
Bernie said long after the season ended that he knew it crash gate was rigged and he chose not to do anything about it until after the season.

Yes, the Singapore Grand Prix where a certain deliberate accident happened… I wonder if it would’ve changed the order, hmmm maybe.. who knows right? Bernie certainly never knew..!

he made f1 to become what it is, we can thank a shit ton of him, legend.. whatever anyone says i respect him still

u/InteKimiallafall BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 22 '24
Bernie didn’t have to keep the drivers in check. He just had to put on a good show.

u/Flabbergash BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 22 '24

Bernie wouldn’t give community service for honesty, the whole reason for why he became F1’s head man was because he was fighting for non-constructor teams to have more rights and word in the sport.
1
u/Corvid187 BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 22 '24
Then he did an absolutely shit job of it
3
u/TWVer BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 22 '24
Being the teams representative in the FISA-FOCA war lead to him being victorious over FISA in terms of the commercial exploitation rights of F1.
FISA became FIA, whilst FOCA moved the commercial rights to then newly created FOG, which is now FOM.
Bernie used the aftermath of the FISA-FOCA war to create the separate F1 commercial rights holder entity, in charge of organizing the championship, raking in the sponsorship money from tracks and TV-rights, as well as paying the teams prize money.
By putting a friend (a fellow former F1 team owner) at the head of FIA, he effectively ruled the sport, until the sale to Liberty Media.
In his time, F1 was ran more like a shady used car dealership, but with a lot more money.

Oh let's not circle back around to praising this piece of shit. He may be a piece of shit in different ways to the new management, but he's still a piece of shit.

And f1 was stagnating under him, he was good for a time sure but wasn't modernising. F1 is now in a great state after he left.
Budget cap he backtracked on and teams left, liberty got it done and we have Honda and audi returning. Social media presence, DTS.

Right so as it seems that people still don't know the difference between the FIA and the FOM. Even if it did happen in 2005 or whatever, Bernie wouldn't have been able to do anything about it. The only one that would have been ultimately responsible was Max Mosley.
So can we stop glorifying this racist money hungry pseudo-pedo? It's like blaming liberty for Max's penalty when Liberty had nothing to do with it but the other way around.

u/C111-its-the-best Sushi Tsunoda 🍣 Sep 22 '24
Mosley and Bernie were tightly knit. On Bernie's behalf Mosley lifted the race ban on Schumacher in '94.

As if puritan-American Liberty doesn't pressure the FIA on these matters.

Liberty is actively pushing the profanity on the broadcast team radios, so no they didn't pressure the FIA lmao
2
u/Damnbroo_ BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 22 '24
So u say fia who is responsible for safety and car regulation suddenly thought it was not a good idea for driver to swear on radio which is broadcasted and earn money for FOM
3
u/JerryUitDeBuurt SOPHIA PLEASE MARRY ME PLEASE SOPHIA I RLY LIKE YOU PLEEWEWEEASE Sep 23 '24
Yes. Yes that is quite literally exactly what happened. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the FIA president, was talking about foul mouthed language on the radio before the whole Max thing happened. Max saying fuck in the press conference was just shitty timing because then MBS felt like he had to clamp down on swearing. FOM doesnt care about swearing because they know it brings in viewers.

u/AskMeAboutUpdood BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 22 '24
So we're sucking off the racist, who would "take a bullet" for Putin, this morning?
7
u/GBreezy BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 22 '24
He might have brought the sport to new heights in the 90s, but he almost killed the sport by the time it was sold. They were begging teams to join as teams kept going into administration/losing sponsors. If it wasn for Stroll we would have had a 9 team grid
-1
u/steakhouseNL BWOAHHHHHHH Sep 22 '24
And instead of Stroll we would've had Andretti racing. What's your point?
1

In 2018 when Force India went bankrupt and major sponsors were leaving the sport left and right? No
