Discussion Weekly “Why is this in the Top 10 most tracked?” Thread - November 18, 2024

Welcome to the weekly discussion thread! The goal of this post is to provide a location for questions and discussion about aircraft that don't necessitate their own individual posts, in addition to centralizing discussion about known aircraft that are frequently posted. This includes aircraft on the "Most tracked flights" list.

Please be sure to check out the FAQ to make sure your question isn't covered there. If you're looking at a military aircraft in the Ukraine region, you may find some answers in the original Ukraine megathread. For military aircraft in general, checking the callsign against this list may yield useful information. In all situations, make sure you search for the aircraft callsign and check recent posts to find any existing discussion.

Otherwise, feel free to post any questions or findings below and discuss with others!

Got one for ya'll. Is this a Skydiving route? - Looks like this Skyvan does the same route pretty consistently.

That doesn't look like a typical skydiving flight pattern to me. Usually the plane will climb immediately to 3,000m+ and then overfly the very nearby jump zone and then land as soon as possible where they took off from.

This video of an SC-7 Skyvan operated by the same company shows a skydiving operation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROAfnpcpyz0 OE-FDI so my first post could be wrong.

This is crazy!

Only PPUO1 has nothing to do with it, every other flight is related to CL105. Didn’t see anything like that in quite a while.
