Firefox Background Usage - Windows 11

Is there a way (settings) to reduce the amount of battery Firefox is using "in the background." When I check Windows 11 battery usage (Dell XPS 15 9510) Firefox is often the largest user. I am seeing high "in use" and "background." Is "background" referring to unused tabs? How to I reduce energy usage for both...but especially background?
