That’s when I realised he wasn’t who I thought he was.

I used to think he was super cool and very bright after watching what SpaceX was doing, but now he looks like a moron every time he opens his mouth.

He talked about electric cars. I don't know anything about cars, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Then he talked about rockets. I don't know anything about rockets, so when people said he was a genius I figured he must be a genius.

Now he talks about software. I happen to know a lot about software & Elon Musk is saying the stupidest shit I've ever heard anyone say, so when people say he's a genius I figure I should stay the hell away from his cars and rockets.

When I realized he had named his Tesla models S3XY, I knew all the smarts were hired and he was still a socially-maladjusted adolescent. When I realized that socially-maladjusted adolescent would fire the smarts if they didn't do as ordered, I knew any company he owned was a time-bomb.

THAT'S THE NAMINH SCHEME?

I don't know much about tesla, sk I could never figure out what the pattern with the model names were.

I know a lot about cars, I know a lot about software. I always knew that the man was a dumba. But even if you don't know a lot about anything, you should know how to spot an ahole and the only thing that comes out of that is crap.

Yeah. It was super exciting that a regular Joe was dabbling into space. With that money he could’ve done amazing shit for space exploration but he turned out to be a quack.

Same

Sam Altman puts it best:

Elon desperately wants the world to be saved. But only if he can be the one to save it

u/EighteenAndAmused Sep 03 '24

Yeah it's not true.

0

u/LorenzoStomp Sep 09 '24

It's true, it's just not a complete statement. Elon desperately wants the world to be saved, but only if he can be the one to save it, and only if it doesn't cost him anything, including future profits.

0

u/IAmBaconsaur Sep 09 '24

So it’s not true, you added additional qualifiers.

1

u/LorenzoStomp Sep 09 '24

None of which negated the first or second statements, only clarified the specific conditions under which they are true. A statement isn't only true if it is able to stand independent of the truth of any other statement.

"You are alive." Is this a true statement? I have no way of verifying it, but I'll assume it is.

"You are alive, but only if you have consumed at least the minimum amount of water required to survive to your current age." I can't verify whether this qualifier is true either. Should I consider the possibility you may be dead?

"You are alive, but only if you have consumed at least the minimum amount of water required to survive to your current age, and only if you have not engaged in any physical activity that raised your hydration requirements above the minimum, including sweating to regulate your temperature in a hot environment." Now you're dead, by your reasoning. If you can only be alive if you drank at least the minimum survivable amount and didn't do anything to raise your requirements, and I have no proof you did any of those things, I have to assume the beginning statement is false. Should I send flowers to your funeral, or would you prefer I make a donation to a charity of your choosing?

It’s still wrong; nice hissy fit though. He doesn’t want to save the world. He wants to rule the world. He doesn’t care if the world burns as long as he has power and glory.

You & tens of millions of people that had barely known about him. Others learn fast, Musk does not.

I remember that happening and my first thought was..."No, I was right about mever getting self driving. He's a fucking moron." I got into argu.ents every day because I worked in tech. You wouldn't believe how many people argued that it was fine to prepay for a fucking car with no delivery date and that was normal for new tech. It was always part of some brilliant plan or other.

One coworker said it was the same as an iPhone because he had prepaid for his. I asked him for the receipt...it had a date of delivery. He changed his argument and it became...because it was way more popular than an iPhone, actually and companies always do this. I couldn't get him to concede that he just loved the idea and really wanted one despite it being an absurd process. He wouldn't even agree that it was about emissions or some other social issue. His fan base got really quiet, finally.

I stopped being a fan when I found out that he planned for people to pay for trips to Mars via endentured servitude. Things only got worse after that.
