The thing is the staff prefers tipping too bc they can make a ton of money that way. My sister waited tables at a sports bar and would make like 700 bucks a night when our local nfl team was playing. It's a benefit to the boss AND the staff, but screws the customers.
I worked in the restaurant industry for my entire career. I raised to kids as an only parent. I can promise you that going into management and making a โliving wageโ was the worst decision I ever made. Even with my benefits, being covered and a 401(k), I did not earn anywhere near as much as I earned as a server or Most especially bartender with tips.
