POWERSTONE!!!

For real though, what do you think his game was? My guess it was a 2k series or Sports but would love if it was PowerStone or Virtua Tennis. Both stole so many hours and gave me the best memories. Skies of Arcadia too even though I'm more of a Grandia 2 fan.

Legit response.

Powerstone was a surprisingly effective and fun fighting game that I'm surprised never came back in any way. the NFL 2K games were how I started even caring about sports.

Grandia was a great game, but it was just barely too linear for me. you never return anywhere, and there's no real exploration outside of the game path (unless you count going back to the field to get the joke weapons). Skies' main issue is the battle system.

Now stay with me, but what if the enemy system from Grandia (where they're on the map and you can "surprise" them, and they can "surprise" you) were in Skies instead of the random battles that made going through the Temples (anywhere combat area really) a pain in the rear.

Dude was trying to find sailors in Shenmue for sure!

... but seriously being a football coach it was probably NFL 2K, when the Dreamcast came out those games were so much better than Madden on the first Playstation.

NFL Blitz and Ready 2 Rumble most likely.

Powerstone feels like a fever dream that I want to relive.
