As a woman with masculine features myself, there's never been a good time.

Isn't there a lil dicky song bout this?

73

u/TetraThiaFulvalene Aug 12 '24

1914 was a pretty bad time.

u/XeroZero0000 Aug 12 '24 edited Aug 13 '24

Would you really rather have been a woman in a war-torn area??

Edit: interesting feedback for my clearly leading question. You say that you wouldn't rather be on the front line and shot at vs any of the women captured and raped as a slave? Are you just considering American women or ones in European small towns?

38

u/One_Researcher6438 Aug 13 '24

You'll have a hard time finding a worse situation for a human to be in than the trenches of the Somme.

39

u/In_Formaldehyde_ Aug 12 '24

Neither are ideal but it's better than being in direct line of combat.

38

u/2ndnamewtf Aug 12 '24

Rather than being in the war? Yea

7

u/squngy Aug 13 '24

Although I definitely wouldn't want to be either of those things, I think you might be underestimating what warfront conditions were like.

For one thing, being shot at was not the worst part of it.

1

u/AJDx14 Aug 13 '24

Unlucky to get shot at, lucky to get shot.

1

u/XeroZero0000 Aug 13 '24

It's fair to think that. I can't really say either way.

3

u/AJDx14 Aug 13 '24

Did you just ask the question without knowing anything about trench warfare? Like yeah theres a risk of being captured and raped/tortured as a woman during wartime but that’s also the case for the men and the men are historically the ones being sent to die. If you aren’t conscripted, which is a near certainty as a woman, then there’s at least a greater barrier between you and the enemy than if you are sent to fight.

13

u/Familiar-Resource583 Aug 13 '24

Yeah beats being in the constant line of fire

16

u/solutiontoproblems1 Aug 13 '24

Damn, you are really like unironically dumb.

6

u/2ndnamewtf Aug 13 '24

Are you considering what we’re saying? No? Why are you blinded by male hatred to not understand why we are saying that. I know self reflection probably isn’t your thing, but don’t move the goal posts after you pose a question….like everyone loves doing these days

1

u/XeroZero0000 Aug 13 '24

There are goal posts?? Everyone loses here. I hear what you're saying. I just don't agree with it. Is that ok with you?

Male hatred? Cuz I said it's good to be a man even in the shittiest times... Irony?

2

u/2ndnamewtf Aug 13 '24

Yep, you’re right

1

u/VRJesus Aug 13 '24

Be It hatred or astounding ignorance, it's a load of shit.

3

u/voteforrice Aug 13 '24

I would much rather be in Canada working the factories than in the trenches with the shitty guns that my military provided us that didn't work half the time because they weren't designed for the mud of the trenches.

1

u/PM_ME_YOUR_LOLCATS Aug 13 '24

Yeah, but OP specifically said "war-torn area" which means a place where actual fighting was taking place, not Canada.

I understand that being on the front lines was a horrific experience, and I do think there's an argument that men in the trenches had it worse overall.

But during a war, when the male soldiers decide to take out their anger at the enemy on women, the result is a massacre like My Lai. Most often, women haven't had the necessary weapons or training to defend themselves and the small children they're trying to protect.

2

u/Koenigspiel Aug 13 '24

I went out to dinner with my mom in Kingman, AZ a couple weeks ago (she just moved near the area and I was helping her get settled) and the waitress greeted us as "ladies".

I'm a 33 year old male and I hadn't shaved in like 3 days

:(

1

u/SeaworthyWide Aug 13 '24

Hey man, I am training at my new job and I had to shave for my respirator test.

My second trainer had to ask my tour guide what my preferred pronouns were.

I hadn't shaved in 3 days.

I asked my wife - do I look like a lesbian or was he just being nice?

1

u/Everybodyimgay Aug 13 '24

Hahahhahahaha!!!!

1

u/Robozo1d Aug 13 '24

I wish I could give a trophy here.

1

u/hoax709 Aug 13 '24

i looked at a lady with a jawline once now i'm gay according to the internet.

236

u/REMcycleLEZAR Aug 12 '24

You're not wrong. My 6'1" mother would tell me about how cruel everyone was to her growing up, including her own brother (my uncle is such a fuck). I'm so glad at 16 she met my 6'5" father who loved her for who she is. They've been married almost 50 years now.

3

u/lovelovehatehate Aug 13 '24 edited Aug 14 '24

As a six foot tall woman your mom got so lucky!!! I support romantic/sexual (consensual) preference but it kinda kills me when I see a super tall dude with a super short lady. I have dated men shorter than me but it just doesn’t feel the same. I know this is a me problem but when (straight) couples have big height difference like that:

Edit: I’m not implying above average height equals masculinity. I was replying to strictly the comment above

2

u/REMcycleLEZAR Aug 14 '24

I know, the heart loves what it loves. I've been guilty of dating comparably short women. I would love to date a woman actually my height though.

36

u/Murphs-law Aug 12 '24

Same 😭

35

u/GetsGold Aug 12 '24

Even Margot Robbie's been accused of being trans. So no one should take any of these accusations personally. Even one of the most beautiful woman has been targetted by this.

-13

u/Allemagned Aug 12 '24

True, but also, most of the world's prettiest women have some features that look a bit trans, and Margot Robbie is no exception. Most notably, her jaw. The fact that it's rare and androgynous is what makes it striking & desirable given the rest of her looks very feminine already.

I don't think people realize that a lot of transsex women legitimately struggle with the question "would you rather look hot and clocky, or plain and cis looking." The trouble with looking too hot is it draws attention, and the more attention one receives the more likely one is to be clocked.

Many feminizing surgeries and procedures are designed to go from "hot and clocky" to "plain and cis looking" in order to blend in better. If Margot Robbie were a transsex woman just trying to fit in, maybe she would spend $10-$100K+ trying to undo the very features that people consider so attractive.

11

u/free-toe-pie Aug 12 '24

Same girl same. I have been this way since age 13. It’s been bad always.

10

u/pickles55 Aug 13 '24

There are plenty of people who find androgynous and masculine women attractive

3

u/endlesscartwheels Aug 13 '24

The people who find them attractive may be the same people who are cruel to them.

3

u/DanielTrebuchet Aug 13 '24

In my experience, usually the guys who end up coming out as gay later in life.

-5

u/pastel_pink_lab_rat Aug 13 '24

What a weird thing to say

7

u/DanielTrebuchet Aug 13 '24

It's directly on-topic with the comment I replied to and is an anectode that accurately reflects my experience with subject. I'm not sure what you find so weird about it. Your off-topic waste of a comment was maybe more weird, wasn't it?

For every one of them there is a bisexual himbo in waiting

6

u/Putrid-Transition942 Aug 13 '24

If trumps makeup lines where on female face she would be ridiculed by women (mostly)and men alike.

5

u/DakotaNoLastName33 Aug 13 '24

I could wear a dress but my masculine features make people think I’m a guy 😂😂

I just let them think whatever now

5

u/Kardlonoc Aug 13 '24

I want to let you know handsome woman is a good-looking woman in my book.

4

u/NeverTooMuchAnime Aug 13 '24

A couple months ago I was in line at McDonald's and I hadn't shaved (I have PCOS) for a while because I just get sick of it. A boomer aged couple was walking past me to leave and the man said loudly 2 feet away "that has to be a man" and the woman said "hush", then they walked away fast. I know this is the tamest shit but it freaked me out

I've kept my shaving up now, I don't want to be their next target. I hate that this is happening and I'm scared for others and myself of what could happen, how worse it could get so quickly. There truly has never been a good time.

2

u/PM_ME_YOUR_LOLCATS Aug 13 '24

I'm really sorry that happened to you. They had no right to make you feel unsafe and targeted just for existing in public.

I've often thought that if all women stopped taking such lengths to hide their facial hair, a lot of people would have their ideas of gender binaries challenged.

I understand that women who have PCOS struggle with more growth than the rest of us, and I don't mean any disrespect. I'm just saying, overall there's a very large percentage of the female population who are hiding light mustaches, unibrows, soul patches, etc.

I don't think most men have any clue about the extent to which women are hiding this, and I wonder sometimes how our culture might change if every woman simultaneously decided to stop.

2

u/NeverTooMuchAnime Aug 13 '24

I agree a million percent!! I was 14 when I realized I needed to start to shave/bleach my face, my brother would point out my very few dark, long hairs and call me a boy/man. My mom gave me disposable girly razors when I started having to shave my legs and pits, so I started using those on my face as well, it became such a chore having to shave more parts of my body just to feel accepted and not be a target! Like wtf. I wish women didn't have such a stigma of always having to be hairless and smooth, we aren't!! We are hairy naturally! If I wasn't supposed to have it then why does it grow there?

-3

u/KillaRizzay Aug 13 '24

I can't figure out for the life of me what having pcos has to do with you not shaving... Lol. Cramps during shaving so you can't shave? I don't get it..

4

u/BringAltoidSoursBack Aug 13 '24

What do you think PCOS stand for? Polycystic ovary syndrome does cause menstrual pain but another well known (if not more known) symptom is excess body hair, like on the face for instance.

2

u/KillaRizzay Aug 30 '24

Excuse my ignorance, I never knew that. I went through the diagnosis and many years after that with my ex. She didn't have the hair issue. She had hardcore cysts on her overies tho, which based on the name and what I read/was told, I thought was pretty the main symptom.

3

u/TheSorceIsFrong Aug 12 '24

Femboys are in now. Your time will come

4

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

Yea, it has never been a good time to look like the potions guy in a wig.

2
