Sounds like it might be a large pack. A bit scary for small, isolated, or incapacitated people.

Small or incapacitated people probably wouldn't live there just by themselves. Isolated people will do fine, coyotes are not seriously dangerous to an adult person, just one adult human, the poor Taylor Mitchell in Canada, was killed by (eastern) coyote in North America in a century or so. A lot of other stuff is much more likely to kill you.

Ok only two died but there have been many more attacks and close calls.

A small and manageable risk, most attacks involve children left alone, some involve people defending their dogs a bit too heroically. People worry much less whenever they drive their car, despite the fact that it's much more dangerous to be on the road than staying nearby a pack of coyotes...

Yes, when you study the attacks one after another, it really strikes you how someone almost always comes running in the nick of time. But also, like I say, that's a lot of extremely close calls.

You are right that the statistical chances are vanishing low. But please agree that that depends on the specific context. The chances that a coyote attack will occur are much, much higher given the presence of a set of contextual factors.

If those are all present, the chances rise to basically 100%. Those factors include many associated with not taking the danger of coyote attack seriously enough with regard to causal factors they can control.

Please explain how you defend a life "Too Heroically"? So, it's your fault if a Coyote attacks you while defending your Dog?

No, it's the coyote's fault clearly... it should get trialled and sentenced in a court of justice... We're talking about an animal, of course it's your fault, if you get hurt by going too far and not thinking clearly with your head.

One coyote can sound like 3-4, so when it sounds like there is a large number like 10, there’s really only 2-4.

They are in a big cow field howling

Loll I live in a residential area in Los Angeles and I hear this all the time …… hardly dangerous to humans unless you happen to be a loose infant

I agree. I for sure wouldn’t go over there looking for them alone without a weapon lol I’ve seen a few going to put my chickens up at night but they have always been more scared of me than me scared of them. If it was an entire pack like this though I’d run my ass back home lolol

Nah……… I’ve run into a pack twice in my life and no issue
