Journal type preference?
Starting to look for a new book for next year and was thinking of switching up.
Anybody used more than one kind (standard bound vs binder vs disc bound, etc)? Any pros or cons for you?
I like the idea of the non-traditional ones to be able to add pages if needed or rearrange things as I go. Also opens the possibility of printing graphics on pages and adding them in since I like charts to fill out but get frustrated making them...
I don't know... just looking for opinions!

I’ve done all of the above. My favorite was the disc bound for usability and cover changes, but the bulk of the discs annoyed me. I now do an a5 journal, with sticker layouts. I found some calendar stickers on Amazon, and realized that I can print my other layouts on stickers as well. I use matte stickers so I can write on them.
But I do miss my disc bound system. I put a lot of work into making it adorable.

I’m the kind of person that jumps between journals because they aren’t “good” enough, there’s always something missing, however this year I’ve decided I wanted to create my own one so I designed what sections I would need and for what I would use it and bought an A5 binder and some refills sheets and now I have all my sections in one journal, and the fact that I can add/remove pages and play with different sheet colours and patterns was a game changer.
I also made two holes in the back of the binder and added a pair of eyelets and attached an elastic string to them so I keep it closed and tidy. I bought everything on Amazon and it’s definitely fun to do.

I've used discbound for 3 years and used hardback bound journals before that. Discbound is a lot more work, but it means I'm not buying journals very often (after three years I think I'm only on my 2nd or 3rd pack of paper), and I can customize where stuff is in my journal and when it's in there. Any time I want a "reset" I can empty out old pages and be at the beginning of my notebook again. Also, I can fold the notebook back to hide what's on the other page and to have the notebook take up less space, which is perfect bc I use my journal in class/on desks often.
Cons- pages can slip out, but I only have this happen when I'm at the very front or very back pages and I fold the journal back on itself. The perfect paper is impossible to find, I'd either have to cut and print it myself or buy it for a very high price. It's bulkier than bound journals, but only because the bound journals I used were smaller. The biggest con is that I LOVE the feel of a bound journal lol. I can't explain it, I just enjoy the aesthetic much more.
Also a pro and con - you can customize EVERYTHING. Which for me meant spending hours and days looking at all the options and trying to get exactly what I want. But, in theory you can get exactly what you want.
Having customizable premade layouts is definitely a big pro for some people, though I've never ended up printing pages for my discbound bullet journal. But I am switching to a premade planner this year. I'm hoping to do all the same journal practices but without having to make any calendars or weeklies.
