Just sent my boss an episode of Hood Politics

For context my boss is the only person at my blue collar job who is as leftist as I am. He used to be the union representative, he’s one of the only people who unconditionally supports my queerness, and is generally a good guy. I am leaving this job in two weeks and wanted to leave him with the hookup to hood politics. I really think guys at my work could resonate with it super hard. I’m trying my absolute best in my last couple weeks to build as much class solidarity as possible. Even if we can move the needle one percent it’s worth it. We’re unionized, but still a lot of trumpers. Idk, just wanted to vocalize this.

Union Trumpers will never cease to surprise me. Like, OK, fine, pronouns or whatever, but this asshole is your guy?

He openly talks about not hiring union and stiffing contractors. The racism dopamine is so strong for these morons they just bliss out and make up lies to cover up the rest.

See at my job it’s not even racism, we’re a majority POC workplace, it’s mostly queerphobia, misogyny, and this idea that trump’s gonna somehow just like, make things cheaper.

This is purely anecdotal, but in 2020 our union passed out biden-harris shirts, they were extremely proactive with their endorsement. This year, absolutely none of that.

Gleefully taking advantage of all the benefits of other people’s hard work and sacrifice while hating the people who do the work is like. A foundational cornerstone of conservatism.

Don't be surprised most people don't go into these jobs because they are intelligent or educated.

It’s not a lack of intelligence, maybe lack of formal education yes but a piece of paper doesn’t actually make you smarter. These people have just eaten up the right wing propagnda. I’m college educated but my union job is the best scenario for me right now. I actually find that super offensive to just look down people because you perceive blue collar jobs as something people get because they can’t get a different kind of job. You’re sounding like nancy pelosi or something. My friend, do better

See this is the shit that divides us. Just because someone may not have absolute book smarts doesn't mean they can't be a good, decent or caring person. This rhetoric is in the same vain as elitist neo-liberals and something that turns away people who may otherwise be sympathetic to a leftist cause.
