There are people literally advocating for genocide and war crimes on here that are apparently just fine according to admins but getting a little snippy with someone can get you banned.

Yuuuup. Lots of posts on ongoing conflicts and posts stirring racism getting no shade

The comment section in the combat footage sub is a never ending flaunting of community guidelines.

And then there is whatever the fuck is going on in worldnews

A bus driver was stabbed the other day in Seattle. Every related sub was full of people who were just so very sure that the cops hadn't released the suspect's racial description because woke liberal city.

Fast forward a day, they publish surveillance photos and wanted info for the completely average white dude suspect, and yet somehow nobody was concerned about it anymore.

But let's not say that school shootings should be way under the murder rate of CEOs statistically. That'll get you cut

I feel control exists everywhere. Freedom to express is gone.

It’s what the tech bros want. Never again am I falling for Silicon Valley’s pie in the sky egalitarian utopian bullshit.

I got banned from r/politics and got a warning on my account for suggesting people cut off contact with their Republican friends and family after the election. They said I was threatening or encouraging violence.

There's other people I have replies from on this post that haven't been published. They're in my inbox. Same sentiment.

Would be real nice if they did with all the hate subs out there. Trans people getting shit on, no bans. CEOs getting a suggestion, ban. Women are still being constantly harassed and abused on this site, let's not ip ban the literal threats to life.

"When they go low, we go high" has turned into a policy of unilateral disarmament.

15

u/photonsnphonons 8d ago

That's a huge issue. Can't win standing on moral ground. Gotta be as scuzzy

12

u/histprofdave 8d ago

It's not even that, but rather than "moral" != "polite."

5

u/MuzzledScreaming 8d ago

Right, sometimes the moral thing is to get loud, rude, and even violent. Hell, that's the founding myth of the US.

8

u/histprofdave 7d ago

Right. It's why I roll my eyes when pearl clutchers cry, "but don't you condemn violence?" in response to the Thompson assassination. Bro, our whole country was born of violence. Almost everyone agrees violence is needed sometimes. It just depends who we give the benefit of the doubt.

The entire concept of a state literally requires violence. If the state isn't using it's monopoly on violence to the betterment of it's people, then the people are inherently entitled to commit violence.

u/photonsnphonons 8d ago

Not following that well. I know people can be polite but immoral.

As a leftist I'm not arguing for the sake of being polite. I want change. There's a serious lack of empathy towards the other. I do believe through positive reinforcement we can change as a species.

I am all in on this which is why I keep ending up with temo (edit: I meant temp but my typo kind of looks like temu which I find amusing in context) bans from reddit.

Turns out that when someone cries about that asshole dying and I tell them I can't understand a word they say with UHC's cock in their mouth, that's "harrassment." And yet their hateporn comments wishing for Luigi to get the death penalty aren't. 🙄

Got a joke for you...
What's the best way to contact your health insurance company?

A Louiji Board.

There are countless egregious examples of discussions being muted and hate speech being sponsored.

Let's see in 5-10 years how history analyzes the posted content.

When they go low, I go to hell and recruit an army.

I think the Arab spring was a real wake up call to tech oligarchs and they decided that shit would not be allowed to propagate unimpeded.

Don't go to r/politics. 'Tis a silly place.

u/Merzeal 8d ago

It's easy to get banned there, I was banned almost a year ago for quoting Bash the Fash. That's a no-no. But I like it.

5

u/jedv37 7d ago

They said I was threatening or encouraging violence.

Duh! It's because the Republicans will then lash out at you with their guns!

u/gangstarr_for_life 7d ago

They banned me for expressing frustration that Roger Stone was still walking amongst the living. I kinda felt like it was horseshit , but I would totally encourage violence against that fuck head, so maybe it was a solid preemptive ban. Either way, fuck the mods over there, and double fuck Roger Stone.

u/trevorgoodchyld 8d ago

That happens. I was in an argument with a Qist who repeatedly said that once Trump was in office I was going to be killed. I called him an idiot or something and got a warning. Pissed me off.

On the internet, we are all just pawns in the corporations' game. The people with their fingers on the ban buttons are their functionaries, and are often not smart enough or ethical enough to be editors and gatekeepers, nor smart enough to realize, acknowledge, or accept that they too are mere pawns.

The skein of petty power that sub moderation provides is a powerful drug. I'd advise against arguing your case - they won't listen to reason.

reddit reporting system is a joke

ive reported myriad comments that were threatening violence, spreading hate, spreading covid conspiracies, etc. and they always get "this is fine we aint doing shit" response

14

u/photonsnphonons 8d ago

Mods are not dicks. Reddits wrong tho. Gotta protect that ad revenue

4

u/MuzzledScreaming 8d ago

I recently got back from a 5 day ban for a comment related to this event. Reddit is such a shithole lately. If I could find anything remotely similar I wouldn't even be using this garbage site anymore.

4

u/ikkymann 8d ago

I'm fresh off my 2nd week long ban for "hate speech" when calling cops the "c word"

4

u/photonsnphonons 7d ago

See you next Tuesday?

3

u/ikkymann 7d ago

Yup, while probably fine to use right now in context. Both bans have come from using that. Despite some of shit I say being far more rude.

2

u/Heavy_Arm_7060 7d ago

"Contemptible People"?

2

u/photonsnphonons 7d ago

I think the word is cvnt but that's been taken back. Calling cops cvnty kinda diminishes the word now.

3

u/Noesfsratool 7d ago

I got a warning for saying oh yes the well known phenomena of gays getting together to go straight bashing. As if that ever happens or even sounds like a threat.

2

u/Disco_Bones 7d ago

I got a warning on this sub once for posting a joke about patricide almost word for word from the podcast
