I need some advice

So theres a bar I frequent, I lost my job, shared it with the bartenders. I stopped showing up as much and tipping less (aka what normal passer by's tip, $2 per drink), to my knowledge I dont have a bad reputation and have never been kicked out. I got a job offer today, so to celebrate I went to the normal spot. What I noticed is that suddenly whenever I ask for my first drink the bartender (whoever it may be) tells me "were out" or "we dont have that anymore".....at first okay whatever but its happened a few times now and im noticing the pattern. What does it mean?

I have always been known to tip well but due to the recent loss my over all consumption is down. I have never been kicked out and to my knowledge am a good customer. One time, since i lost my job, they immediately took my normal tipping rate ($5 per beer or cheap wisky) right off the top.

What is going on? Have I done something wrong? what should I do to stop being denied the 1st drink request and having to go with the bartenders suggestion (typically parrallell to my request)?

Do any current restaurant/bar/event venue workers have three minutes to spare for an academic survey?

Hi all. I need some help with my doctorate dissertation survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CSUDBA

This is strictly academic. The survey is only 6 questions, takes less than three minutes, and requires ZERO personal information or data. I will not add you to any type of list and I will never contact you in the future. Also worth mentioning that no one can trace your answers back to you, not even me.

Basically, I just want to know if you are thinking of quitting your restaurant/bar job. Especially if you worked during the pandemic. The quicker I can get the responses I need, the quicker I can get my degree. Thanks in advance to anyone who completes it. You're really helping me a lot!

So question on what to-not to do at a bar

So i have only gone out drinking once and wanted to know if this is the propper way to order your drinks. So when i need a drink i pull out the cost of the drink +1 dollar and wait for the bartender to come over. So is this the right way to order?

My cutting and shaping was not perfect so some of the pieces came out as lopsided triangles instead of cubes or spears, but I have about 16 usable chucks so I'm happy!

Is it weird if I go to a bar alone ?

I like to go to bars, but most of my friends don't, and those who do are often busy. I used to work on week-ends, now I've got time to go out, but my drinking budies are not available at the moment. Is it weird if I go alone ? It feels weird to me, but I want an expert opinion.

For the record, I never drink alcohol when I'm alone, and I don't need it to enjoy myself. I just want to go put and talk to folks. Any ideas ?

Why did an "American Biker"-themed bar in Korea (Mojo's in TDC) say in one of their rules, "Never, ever, under any circumstances, request any Bruce Springsteen songs?"

Why do they find his music so taboo to request at that bar?

Death by Bloody Mary?

On my mind, how a "legal loophole" is going to allow XYZ RESTAURANT to literally kill someone by not making them disclose their allergens on their menu. Did you know that in their "house-made" Bloody Mary mix that there is EGG? I didn't either until I had 2 small sips of it and had blisters on my lips, tongue, throat, and tonsils. You know what they are doing about it? Nothing. Why? Because they aren't required to disclose their allergens, I have to provide them with my information to find out that it's there. Do you know how long it took the manager to find the ingredients when I called to find out about it? 20 minutes. So it's not even easily available!!! why isn't this FDA 'guideline' a LAW by now??

if your bathrooms smells like shittt.....

Please please please read and share. No your bathroom doesn't smell like shit cuz people piss in the urinal. No the ice doesn't help. More than likely your bathroom smells like shit because of a DRY P-Trap in your floor drain. Do yourself (and us) a favor and pour a bucket of water down the drain once a month.

Thank you,

A plumbing engineer 🫡

Marketing promotions at bars

I'm starting a new ecommerce business and am considering sponsoring free drinks at bars as part of an online raffle. The raffle may be location-specific or belong to a group of bars along a strip.

Patrons would scan a QR code, register on my site, and activate geolocation services on their phones so that I can geofence them at their bar (so they don't need to re-enter after every drawing). Then every 15 to 30 minutes, someone would win a free drink from us.

I would cover the costs of house comps and send follow-up SMS texts to winners to prompt them to tip bartenders as they would the market value of a drink. I would also provide software to both to give those behind the bar more control over who and how people win.

Is this doable from a bar owner's perspective?

Did this bartender lose her fucking marbles?

I was in Tampa partying downtown and my gf gave me her debit card to use for the night. It was a bachelor party night, and we were going to many clubs/establishments just having a lot of fucking fun. Until we get to this one nightclub called “The Castle” (some gothic sex night club) and I attempt to buy my regular - vodka cranberry. I’ve drank like 5 of these tonight at different establishments no problem, but this specific bartender tells me she cannot process the charge unless my gf is in front of me to authorize it. I tell her my gf is several hours away and that’s not happening. She said she won’t give me my ID or my gfs card back. I said what the hell why are you guys pulling this stunt for? All the other bars I’ve been to (in any city in Florida) have never did this. She said it was the law. I counter 3 mississippi in my head and snatched the card out of her hands and left the club. Waited 15 mins and came back in. Like what the fuck? Can she do that? Why has nobody ever done this before?
