My car won’t crank over can anybody tell me what that might be ?

I was just driving it came home to grab something I forgot and was about to leave back out and the car wouldn’t start.

Likely a starter but put it in neutral and try to start just in case

Your battery is deader than shit and too weak to take a jump as is.

Have the other person turn off ALL electrical loads and hold it at about 2k rpms while you do the same while trying to start it.

Alternatively just replace the dead battery

Almost towre. Just remove the dead battery from the circuit. Take the leads off and attach jumper cables directly too them without the battery. Either it starts right up and youv identified a bad battery or it doesnt and you know its something in the starting circuit. Also revving the car does nothing, especially when the weak point is janky 4 gauge jumper cables

No, sorry that’s not correct. If the battery was as dead as you’re saying when he turned, the ignition key on the dash would not have lit up the car would not have chimed. It was showing strong voltage on the dash the way it lit up. It’s definitely a starter. I don’t mean to correct you but it’s just the way it is.

1.) it sounds dumb but make sure it's in park.

2.) if you know what the starter looks like try hitting it with something a few times (like your tire iron)

This is absolutely correct. It’s an old trick mechanics use you bang on the starter and it will usually turn over a couple more times but it will still need replaced. At least it will get the car running and get you home. I’d say 75% of the time tapping on the starter anywhere on the side of the starter housing pretty aggressively multiple times and then attempting to start the car again works. It doesn’t permanently fix the starter. Don’t get confused. You still need to replace it, but it will at least get you off the side of the road.

Could only guess since we just have one symptom to work with.

Immobiliser light is flashing as you get into the car and turns off after a few seconds as it should so should be able to rule out immobiliser issues. Car is showing as P on the dash so should be able to rule out gear selector issue holding it out.

I'd start with the basics, check the starter circuit fuse and relay output. If that's good check starter connections and starter itself.

This doesn't seem like a battery issue to me. This feels more like a starter or starter relay or a fuse somewhere or the security. Have you noticed anything before this?

It was the starter, replaced it and it started right up.

Either your battery is not holding enough charge even while being jumped, or your starter motor is junk. I'd start there.

Thanks guys it was the starter, car starts right up after I changed it out was a pain in the ass !

That’s not how you correctly jump start a car , you’re supposed to put the negative clamp to the dead battery to a screw or metal , you can damage your computer to one car or both cars by not doing it right .

Yes, you’re mostly correct. Do you want to put the negative clamp on a metal exposed not painted part of the car that is connected to the unibody because the ground which is the negative flows through the entire structure of the human body. The positive then goes on the positive terminal of the dead battery on the car that you’re sending the power from you put the negative terminal on the negative post of the battery you put the positive terminal on the positive post of the battery. So to reiterate on the dead battery car positive jumper cable goes on the positive terminal of the battery the negative jumper Schloemp goes onto a unpainted raw metal surface that is heavily connected to the unibody frame of the vehicle that won’t start. On the car that you’re sending Power from you put both jumper cables directly onto the terminals of the battery. What this does is prevents the ECU or the control unit which is the computer of the car from getting fried and brick because it sends power through the CANBUS system as opposed to Sending the power to the flat battery which is going to suck the voltage and send a low-voltage out to all the electronic components of the car with the dead battery and when you send a low-voltage through the CANBUS system and through the ECU this can Cause the computer to brick, which means erase itself and no longer have the programming necessary for the car to run the map for the engine and sensors and solenoids will be erased in the car will be dead.

Did you get it sorted out? Looked like I saw a security warning??

Yes it was the starter.

Your battery is too flat and needs to be replaced, not enough voltage and amps in the battery anymore
