All I know is that I saw an article in the last day titled "Pictures show what it was like to eat at McDonald's in the 1980s" like it was some kind of time travel to ancient times and I'm just..... deceased now. Please stop my Garmin.

I punted the Tuesday workout to tomorrow, I'll do something small if I'm up to it. 11-13 on Sunday at most as I'll be running a 5k next weekend so I don't want to put too many more miles on. Already going to be bumping close/over 60 this week. The rolling 365 breached 2,500 miles this week and that's my year of end goal so seems pretty likely I'll get there.

Weather will be warming back up so that's good too! Really was only 2 cold days, and this morning was actually pleasant with light winds. As I've always told people "It's not the cold, it's the wind" is the direct corollary to "It's not the heat, it's the humidity."

Marathon #36 this weekend! Weather looks less than ideal but I’m not stressing over it. Nothing to lose!

That's one way to escape the sub zero cold. Have a great race!

I'll be tracking USATF Club XC this weekend, with a bit of FOMO. It was just too soon after the marathon (5 weeks), I tried that in 2022 and didn't feel great that day. We didn't have a lot of team interest and making the trip didn't seem worth it. Nevertheless, it's a great event and should be on the bucket list for competitive runners in the US. I'll track results and hope to stream the open races.

Racing a local 5K this weekend, just to shake the legs and lungs out. Fairly flat course, weather should be decent for December.

This week has gone by ridiculously quickly.

I'm on call this weekend so I did an easy 4 this morning in case I don't get a chance to run tomorrow. Tomorrow night my son has a basketball game; it's their big rivalry game, not a regular conference game, which is why it's Saturday night at 9 pm. So late. Then he and his twin brother have the ACT on Sunday morning (twin brother is not going to the bball game on account of wanting to actually be rested for the ACT!). I plan to get in 10-12 miles while they're taking the test.

The best news is my husband is picking my car up at the dealership today, 3.5 weeks after it was dropped off there. So we can go back to having 2 cars and I'll be able to get an extra 30ish min of sleep every morning on account of not having to drive my kids to the bus. The 30 min between 4:45 and 5:15 is actually a lot . . .

edit: apparently the dealership lied and my car is NOT going to be ready today after all. We'll have to get it Monday, 4 weeks since they've had it. What a pain. First world problems, I know

My degree is in meteorology but I'm an insurance professional and I feel this. All I see when I look at claims files (I'm an underwriter) is delays for repairs. It's been this like since COVID for "parts shortage" etc etc and I'd really love for someone waves hands in various directions to figure it out.

Ugh positive for COVID this morning! Just when I was finally feeling good about running/training 🙃

Race is five weeks out so we still see what happens I guess.

Booooo. If it is any peace of mind, I was able to train through it this summer. It was annoying for two weeks but kept changing and never impacted running really.

Hope it is mild for you!

That’s encouraging! Cough was pretty mild to begin with and is better today so as long as I don’t suddenly spike a fever or something I’ll try jogging some easy miles tomorrow and see how that goes.

Noooooooooo... hopefully just "mild" and no issues afterwards!

Fingers crossed! Definitely taking today and maybe tomorrow off, getting some extra rest and will go from there. My only symptom right now is a bit of cough and I wouldn’t have even tested based on symptoms alone but there were a few positive tests out of a holiday party I went to last weekend.

Tonight we are watching the muppets Christmas carol and then tomorrow is 18 with 14@MP!

The weather is going to be a bit dodgy in the morning so it is an excellent reason to sleep in a bit. After the workout we are going to try a new breakfast place called "Flying biscuits" and I'm so excited for a stupidly big celebratory breakfast.

The 18 with 14@MP went really well!!! I averaged 9:04 for the whole segment!! This workout is scarier than the 20 mile long run and I am super proud of myself.

The only downside was that the flying biscuit had too long of a wait so we bailed and got bagels instead.

HYPE!!!! That's a monster workout, congrats on crushing it! That's a great sign and isn't it grossly humid again there too?

SO MUCH HYPE! I am starting to think I can do this!

Yes the weather was gross again after weeks of stunning perfect running weather. We waited til 6am to avoid some thunderstorms and it was 65F and dew point of 67! The morning was pretty with the fog rolling up from the bayous but once the sun came up it got rough. Definitely had a bit of a heat headache at the end and only got in 2 gels.

I am way better prepared this time than I was last year!

That sounds rough, but those splits were a thing of beauty! (I hit you with a follow)

Hahaha same! I didn't trust my watch when it was telling me that I was "on pace" and fully convinced myself that I was averaging 9:30 the whole time.

I’m still not in full training yet - just playing around until the new year. I was going to do a 20 min fartlek on Thursday morning, but for various reasons (bad sleep, high heart rate, unwarranted fear of ice) I decided not to. So I replaced it with a long progressive run today. First time I’ve done something like that in a while. I got through it, but probably at a much higher heart rate and effort than strictly necessary.

Tomorrow it’ll be a short run, as my boys are very excited they were selected to light the advent candles at church in the morning, and then we have the Christmas carols service in the evening (i decided to join the choir this year … I haven’t sung in a choir in about 20 years. It’s still fun, and I’m still not a great singer!)
