Abandoned “rails to trails” train station and stationmaster’s house next door
Complete with a creepy-ass statue inside that totally didn’t scare the crap out of me when I was looking around.
It seems like they tried to make it some kind of museum at one point to no avail.
I (curiously) tried one of the doors, which was locked, of course. And right after, a cop drove through the parking lot, so I wasn’t going to push my luck.

Where is this? Looks fairly recently abandoned.

Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks. It’s fairly old (at least from the 1920s, to my knowledge) and has all the original furnishings in it! I wish I got some more pictures of them, but the glare from the windows was making it pretty difficult.
It seems like it was actually not abandoned that recently either since it had one of those old-school CRT TVs sitting in an alcove against one of the walls.
EDIT: Also, DUST.

Very cool. I spent some time up there as a child; Tupper Lake area if I remember correctly. Something about this structure is very intriguing to me. Did the cop say anything to you or just doing normal rounds?

Just doing normal rounds. Sort of funny he drove by sort of right after I tried the door… 😬

😂 That's what would happen to me. I literally got caught for everything I ever tried as a kid. 🤦🏻♀️

The “people” on the bench scared the poop out of me.

How do you think I felt when I was lurking and peeping through the windows and suddenly saw two “people” just chilling on a bench in there? 😂

These are great photos! It's also nice to know a little history of the station as well. Thanks for posting your adventure.

Thanks so much! Adventuring/exploring the Adirondacks is always fun. There’s a few more train stations along the route, of course, that are in worse shape than this one sadly.
I saw another one the day before while biking a section of the trail that comes before this one, but unfortunately I didn’t have a good place to pull over so I could take some photos.
