Instead of taking a photo, maybe get the hell out of there.

I suspect OP did in fact get the hell out of there, as it’s typically difficult to upload from underground

I did get the hell out, I saw this on the way out. And just took a quick video then dipped with haste.

I actually took a video of it, Reddit just didn’t let me upload it.

Pro tip. You can use a lighter to determine if it is safe or not.

Yea sometimes I do that

I usually just use an Indiana Jones type torch and kill 2 birds with one stone. Lots of light and air quality testing!

I too enjoy displaced oxygen for breakfast.

Can someone explain what I’m looking at? That’s gas like at a gas station, in an abandoned mine? Where’s it coming from?

Gas like the form of matter. Solid, liquid, gas. Seeing as how it's coming off of rotting wood it's probably carbon dioxide.

These could be “soda springs” natures mineral water, that you can drink.

I drank from one myself, in a town near Sequoia forest. As I drank from it, I imagined my “hearts”being restored, Zelda style.

Is that gas or water? I don't see any bubbles.

It’s gas, it was from decaying wood under the water trapped by mud, and when we walked on the rails, bubbles started coming from the mud on the floor. It wasn’t a steady stream of gas, it only would come out when we took a step.

That makes sense!

The picture is literally of some bubbles

8

u/joan_bdm Oct 05 '24

For me it looks like some sort of spring with water flowing. We'll have to wait and see OPs video.

6

u/Nervous_Piece_2564 Oct 05 '24

Theres gas bubbles coming through the water, from the fault in the floor 👍

9

u/woodbanger04 Oct 05 '24

Why are you blaming the floor? What if it wasn’t leaking before OP walked down there? Wouldn’t it then be the OPs fault? /s

That floors let me down one too many times

Bros danger meter wasn’t working

u/WindTough Oct 08 '24

Dis you try to light a match next to the bubbles? That’s the standard practice.
