What, Milks have Lift n' Peels now?

Post image

I've never seen a milk with one of these. I mostly only see it on orange juice. Plus the container has a crack seal too. I guess it's for extra protection?

Do you think its an error?

I've been buying milk from sams club for the past couple months and they've all had these lift n peel things now.

6

u/sumemodude 1d ago

Yeah it's definitely a newer thing

I get like lactaid and lactose free milks and they all have the lift and peels

2

u/joey133 23h ago

Sam's has always had these I believe.

1

u/Rebeljah 16h ago

Probably not, I'm not sure how you would add a peel cap to a production line on accident

7

u/garbage-lord 1d ago

Yeah because the fucking “prank” streamers keep being gross with the food

Been like that at least 20 years in UK

4

u/_Fl0r4l_4nd_f4ding_ 1d ago

Im 25 from the uk and they've been like this my entire life afaik

3

u/mikewilson2020 1d ago

We are living in the future 🙌

2

u/sumemodude 1d ago

Haven't seen that ever here in the US for the last 20 years lol

2

u/mikewilson2020 1d ago

Every milk brand and milkshake bottle has these and I can't remember when they did away with the tops you rip a strip off of? It's been that long

2

u/sumemodude 1d ago

Man that's so weird. We usually only have those on orange juice and similar products

1

u/mikewilson2020 1d ago

Have the bastards made ya bottle tops not separate from bottles now? Like on coke and Pepsi?

1

u/sumemodude 1d ago

I think so

1

u/imnotatalker 19h ago

No they haven't yet...

2

u/shut____up 1d ago

Wuh? I've seen milk come with these tabs for twenty years. I'm from California.

1

u/sumemodude 1d ago

Maybe only some states do it? I'm honestly clueless

1

u/irrationalhourglass 1d ago

Yeah, also in Cali and this post confused me. Never seen milk without it.

Sometimes those crack seals can be bypassed. I've done it in accident many times when opening a jug. Look up "The Tylenol Murders" and you'll never want to buy an idem without one of those seals again! Here's a link explaining it https://youtu.be/X5GJlN1F6xQ?si=LuBc-sWqyzmdL-2W

2

u/sumemodude 1d ago

Oh yeah that's very true. Or that "prankster" who was spraying raid bug killer on and in food

2

u/jeniusjulian 4h ago

The Tylenol Murders is why we have tamper-resistant packaging, though. Before that, there were no seals on packaging.

1

u/AdNo8756 4h ago

That's what I'm saying. Before i learned about it i hated those seals but now I'm glad to see them

1

u/jeniusjulian 4h ago

I misread "without", thought you said "with" and was super confused. My bad!

1

u/AdNo8756 4h ago

All good 😂 I do that all the time

3

u/Big_Space_9836 1d ago

They've been in the UK for years.

2

u/sumemodude 1d ago

Interesting. Was there ever a reason?

1

u/Big_Space_9836 23h ago

Tamper proofing as far as I'm aware.

I mean, sometimes they're stuck so well that the only way to open them is to use something sharp to poke it :)

1

u/sumemodude 21h ago

Yeah no one will get into it for sure haha

Whoever invented the Lift-n-Peel can snort my taint.

2

u/VividStay6694 23h ago

I don't drink milk so there's that lol but I despise those things. I just can't do it. I end up having to use a knife

1

u/sumemodude 21h ago

Literally. Or pliers😂

2

u/CheesyBendito 21h ago

cries in milk bag

2

u/grambocrackah 19h ago

As someone who has stocked milk for a living, I'm very thankful for stuff like this. Unsealed milk bottles are messy and smelly. That said, it is an additional waste of plastic and we'd probably be better off with a bag system like Canada.

2

u/Emergency_Way7423 16h ago

I’ve never seen that before on milk jugs. That’s weird.

1

u/sumemodude 10h ago

That's what I'm saying

2

u/WorldsWorstTroll 1d ago

More wasted plastic...

-5

u/Positive-Reference78 1d ago

lol negative nancy

3

u/deez_nutzzs 1d ago

those things suck dick anyways so it is a waste

1

u/irrationalhourglass 1d ago

They NEVER work the way they're supposed to. I always end up having to just pick at the edge.

1

u/BreakerSoultaker 1d ago

They come on the milk at my local Costco at NJ.

1

u/Ok_Nothing_8028 1d ago

You should be thankful

2

u/sumemodude 1d ago

I am, just seems interesting since it's the first time I saw this on a milk

1

u/DadWatchesWrestling 1d ago

I'm in Canada and the jugs have had them for years, and they're a bastard to remove sometimes

2

u/sumemodude 1d ago

Exactly. The orange juice was so bad already and now this😭

1

u/Stoogefrenzy3k 1d ago

Agree with you. I feel like I’ve been getting better at removing them when you kinda have to figure it out.

1

u/cherith56 1d ago

Oh hell

1

u/jemangetongrandpere 1d ago

In france we got aluminium under all milk bottle caps , arent yall scared someone drank milk and closed it and putted it back ?

1

u/sumemodude 21h ago

Ironically, no I'm not really worried in the slightest

1

u/jemangetongrandpere 13h ago

i had a friend that used to open all bottles that had no little lift n peel in the store to "taste" and then he just put it back like nothing happened

1

u/sumemodude 10h ago

People are so gross for no reason

1

u/Aware_Eagle6084 1d ago

Because of Tylenol - 1980s/Chicago

1

u/sumemodude 21h ago

Yeah but this is 2024 and this is the very first time I've seen it

1

u/Flat-Case-6776 23h ago

Never thought I’d see the day but ig

1

u/sumemodude 21h ago

For real

1

u/MellifluousSussura 21h ago

I think I’ve seen this a couple times when we buy a different brand of milk than usual. Was the top like a screw on or something else?

1

u/sumemodude 21h ago

It was the usual screw top. Also it was a Walmart milk

1

u/GummyGumBun 20h ago

I’ve seen this for years. I’d be shocked if they didn’t have them.

1

u/sumemodude 20h ago

Has Walmart milk always had this?

1

u/GummyGumBun 20h ago

I believe so? I’m sure it also depends on the area it’s been bought in and brand of milk.

1

u/sumemodude 20h ago

I usually get the Kroger milk so maybe that's why

1

u/barkofwisdom 20h ago

I’m in the US and the milks always have these. I get almond milk though now and they have a plastic ring pull tab

1

u/sumemodude 20h ago

Yeah the alternate milks always have those, but most regular milks don't

1

u/barkofwisdom 20h ago

Before I switched to almond milk, all the regular milks had the tab like your pic shows. I got my milk at either a small town grocery or Walmart

2

u/sumemodude 20h ago

Ah so it must be a walmart thing. Because the milk at Kroger has no tab

1

u/barkofwisdom 16h ago

That explains a lot! Where I live in the south, we don’t even have Krogers 😆

2

u/sumemodude 10h ago

For real haha. When I lived in the south, I didn't see them either

1

u/EntAtaraxy 9h ago

Seen those on milks for years where I’m at in US.

u/SANFRANGOON 1d ago edited 1d ago

Always has ..it so folks can’t put anything in it..these days social media has folks wildn so it’s a precaution

2

u/sumemodude 1d ago

Must be a newer thing
