It looks like polishing compound.

Looks similar to the green material used for polishing knives, when sharpening

I worked in a sushi case, and the masters used a similar stone to keep the knives sharp.

can be used with his speed polishing pads and cotton or wool pads to polish plastic, metal, wood, glass, and some other synthetic materials

Polish compound for leather strap (knife sharpening) or for some rotative tools

4

u/sighduck42 1d ago

Whetstone of some sort?

5

u/DankMycology 1d ago

Not a whetstone, but the polishing compound you’d put on a strop after you sharpen on a whetstone.

5

u/Pure_Joke8075 1d ago

That is some highly enriched weapons grade uranium right there.

3

u/buginmybeer24 1d ago

It's polishing compound for making blades super sharp. You put it on a piece of leather then strop the knife until the edge is a mirror finish.

Hot take: it’s a polishing compound that is used to make metal nice and shiny looking. Oh it may smell like pickles, just like almost all green things do.

An ossified Twinkie???

4

u/Weepingfistula 1d ago

At least it’s not an ossified twink.

6

u/dufflebag7 1d ago

Puh-lease. If anything, that’s an ossified power bottom

2

u/Weepingfistula 1d ago

In the end, aren’t all twinks power bottoms?

Looks like polishing compound that you put on a polishing wheel for things like wood polishing etc, I have them in my wood shop.

Polishing compound to get the tools razor sharp, or a giant green hulk bar

1

u/Royal-Application708 1d ago

If it came with your wood, carving kit, is it some kind of sharpening stone?

1

u/Rich-Painting-2032 1d ago

At first glance I was thinking hash or possibly some kind of butter

It's for the final step in sharpening your tools, polishing compound as mentioned elsewhere. In woodworking it's critical to keep your hands tools sharp, you'll often need to re-sharpen them every few hours of use.

1

Yellowcake. You didn't happen to buy your woodcarving kit from the Middle East, did you? LOL

1

u/Fragrant_Mountain_17 1d ago

Hash that's gone off maybe

1

u/Natural_Living_1612 1d ago

Yes it’s what everyone is saying, polishing compound probably for the wood carving tools.

1

u/BreakerSoultaker 1d ago

It is green stropping/polishing compound. You apply it to a leather belt and “wipe” the cutting edge across it to hone the edge.

1

u/unshakeable69 1d ago

Looks like hash .

1

u/OutWords 1d ago

Pure, unprocessed Green. Before they put green on the grass in the morning (also leaves, pine needles and other naturally green things) the green gets delivered in blocks like this. They mix small shavings in with other compounds and chemicals and sometimes other raw colors to produce the shade and texture they want applied.

1

u/Left_Seaworthiness20 1d ago

Likely polishing compound. Similar to rosin

1

u/blackwing1571 1d ago

Haha. I thought it was a big chunk of hash until I read the description.

1

u/Hairy-Ad5641 1d ago

i thought i was on r/bubblehash at first

Stropping compound by the looks of it

1

u/Holdmywhiskeyhun 1d ago

More than likely polish. If it's very hard like a rock, it's probably a whetstone.

1

u/ForgottengenXer67 1d ago

It’s a sharpening stone.

1

u/Mammoth_Welder_1286 1d ago

My dad used something similar to sharpen his knives

Is there no subreddit specific for woodworking or something? As you mentioned it came in a woodcarving kit(i hope im not wrong on it as i just Kinda read it really quickly). I believe they may have the answer.

1

u/Creegz 21h ago

Get out of there Stalker!

But seriously it’s probably polishing compound.

Looks like plumbers blue dye for checking for leaks or if you have drainage issues.

Knife strop compound is like a crayon that you rub on a strop to keep an edge on your knife. At least that’s what it looks like to me. If you heat it up it should act exactly like a crayon when they get hot. Like a cheap wax
