Someone broke into my car and stole my new Christmas jacket and golf clubs I got yesterday (And my crazy pills). Then I had to go into work. lol
As the title states, got up begrudgingly to go into work. Already annoyed I don’t get the day after Christmas off (mid level accounting), I get down to my car and see my window open. I always double and triple lock my doors because whenever I let my dog out I re-lock it etc. Habit. So I think, oh shit someone broke in, but there’s no broken glass so I think oh maybe there’s hope and I somehow rolled it down when locking it? Then I notice my backpack is gone, then I realize I left my new jacket I got yesterday for Christmas on top of my backpack. Then my heart sinks and I check my trunk and my new golf clubs are also gone along with 2 tennis rackets and my frisbee golf discs. Turns out whoever broke in tried to wipe my keys from the computer and connect a new set and steal the car, failed and so I also have to tow my car to the dealership, replace the lock, and get a new key fob made. And this is all 2 weeks after my dog got hit by a car, who’s deductible I had to pay because I she got off her leash. Merry Christmas.

Don't leave anything "visible". Unfortunately is probably why it got broken into. Get some window tint and put your belongings in the trunk☝️

People will break in just so they don’t have to sleep outside in the cold
Source: have had it happen

I’ve had my car “accessed without permission” three times. Apparently, one of the back door locks was faulty for one time, I left it unlocked once after two of my neighbors had their windows smashed, and the last one is still a mystery. No valuables were in the car any of those times.

When it happened to me it was totally my fault, but it was a beat-up POS from 1982 (happened in 2005ish) with sun damaged interior, and absolutely nothing of value inside. The car had Venetian blinds in the back window lololololol. I did, however leave it parked in a bad area overnight (better than driving drunk!)

They will break in just to check, you just gotta cross your fingers and say please oh please, when you walk out to your car.

They’ll break into the ones with stuff in plain sight first. You may not be exempt but your chances are better further down the list.

Plot twist: He broke into the car, which isn't his, and stole these things, but this version of him doesn't remember ans thinks it's his car.

The unwritten script is the ‘criminal’ was from the future, and had to prevent OP from getting to work in time to remove the criminal’s grandmother from her insurance plan, revoking her cancer treatments. If he did not succeed, he would never be born, and would not be alive to save the universe.
Some passerby stole the clubs later. Opportunists around every corner!
lol ;)

You should now start the habit of not leaving backpacks and visible valuables in your vehicle.

Well, look on the bright side, at least you don't have any more of those pills that were making you crazy.

I once bought a big TV and then decided to return it as the picture was poor. I put it in my car and was going to take it back in the morning. During the night someone broke into the car and stole it. (The car was on a driveway pretty far from the main road). I've also had my laptop stolen when driving back from work and having left it in the car while going to get a coffee. So now I never ever leave anything in my car.

As a latin person, lesson number one of owning a car is: Never leave anything of value in the car! And if you must have something that is not of value, leave it in the trunk where no one can see it.

Ouch, damn.
Rough one.
People suck.
It's just stuff and money though, you'll make more. Until then, you have my empathy.
