I feel like I've been reading about senior officials getting killed since the beginning of the war. How many did Russia start with, and who is back filling these positions?

These were captains filling role of major or LtCol. So thats how it’s going

A large explosion is then followed by what appears to be the detonation of a cluster munition.

Seems like they hit them with the missile that carried the cluster munitions. The cluster munitions were just for decoration.
