While talking about the income tax in the Netherlands, saying there is non. In Washington State, duh.

Found this under a question what is normal for Europeans but not Americans. Paying the prices on the label in stores (tax included) was one answer where one redditor was shocked over the 21% salex tax for non food items in the Netherlands with another answered if it is not the income tax that's meant to pay for public services.

The defaults then mentioned that there is no income tax. Clarifying afterwards they are talking about Washington State, USA. Under a thread about the Netherlands.

Every map in the sub r/TravelMaps is just a map of the US

The sub r/TravelMaps is supposed to be maps of where you've travelled. To get some engagement, people generally ask "what does this say about me" or "where should I travel next". Every single map on the sub is just a map of the US, with different states highlighted, as if these are different countries. So I usually say something like "this map says you're from the US" or "this map says you've only travelled inside the US". Or "maybe travel to Australia next". But everyone just seems to accept this as will say things about what part of the US they're from and what part of the US they should go to next. It's really weird, it's like the rest of the world just doesn't exist and we all just assume the US as the default.

So I posted a map of New Zealand, the country I'm from, and I highlighted all the different regions of New Zealand I've travelled to. And all I got was "I don't recognise this" or "New Zealand" or "I don't think we've invaded this one".
