A Few Helpful Rolex 24 Tips From DAYTONA!

Hey r/USCR! With a few posts asking for tips and things for our upcoming Rolex 24, we wanted to share a few helpful links on articles we've put together. Also, in case anyone was not aware, this (DISupdates) is the official reddit handle for Daytona International Speedway. We'll do our best to monitor posts with questions over the next few weeks, but with Rolex 24 and Speedweeks, we have a lot going on. So if you have a specific question, always feel free to tag us or send us a PM. We're a lot more likely to respond directly that way. We can't wait to see everyone here in a few short weeks!

Dear DIS,

Please put in some grand stands at the bus stop, your track has very few exciting corners and we can't even watch the race at one of them.

We've heard this from a lot of fans and passed on the info to the ops team, believe us. But, we're hopefully working on a few surprises. All we can say if be sure to follow us @Rolex24Hours. You never know what special things or opportunities we'll be giving away during the race.

Another suggestion, I've thrown out before is a rental kart setup. Like Homestead has and Gateway Motorsports Park for example. I know it wouldn't work during race weekends because the infield is being used. But it'd be pretty badass to have stuff like league night and regular karting around the rest of the year.

Thanks for the suggestion. DIS however has something already on track just about every weekend (if not every day) of the year. Between tours, private rentals, NASCAR Racing Experience and more, there just unfortunately isn't very many free days the track has available. It is something we've looked at though.

Yeah I know you guys stay pretty busy. It'd definitely have to be confined to the kart track due to that. I have a ton of friends who all run rental series and 206 series at Bushnell, Orlando and Ocala but everyone always questions if Daytona would ever have something similar. Just a fun thought!

Potential option of using the injector entryway, kinda where Merc has their SUV rock climber rig during the 24.

That's what COTA did, but DIS may feel they need that space to be more fluid.

One of my friends actually mentioned COTA as we were just there for the F1 race last year. So I know exactly where you're talking about. I could see it happening one day or another. We're all hopeful of it anyway.

It would be fantastic to be able to watch at the bus stop in person!

I went in 2015, the last year they had the bus stop platform and I never went to check it out. I’m so mad I didn’t.

Awesome, thanks for this /u/DISupdates

I'm flying 17 hours from the bottom of the world to be there, so it's going to be a mega experience!

It is such a long walk from the outside geico west tent camping area to the stadium / infield. It would be nice if DIS could add a tram or shuttle service for the campers... Or just do something about the people that renew their infield tent camping passes every year with no intention of going, just to re-sell them at 5+ times the face value.

Question, will you guys be selling flags this year? Specifically Rolex24 and IMSA related flags? Really really trying to get an IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup Flag as those were so hard to get during the Tequila Patron days..

Hi Cookie, we're not exactly sure. With Fanatics leaving the sport there have been some last second changes. We unfortunately don't know 100% for sure if they'll have flags or not. Your best bet will be to check the hauler in the UNOH Fanzone when you get here. As for the IMSA flags, we'd recommend asking IMSA. They might have more info on those. Sorry we couldn't be of much help.

hey, no worries, these things happen! I'll be sure to stop by Thursday to check, race flag collecting/flying is a weird hobby to bug you guys with to say the least.. i'll check with IMSA, to be honest they've been scarce ever since the merger - you guys have had more stock in my experience when looking online! ;)

Looking forward to my first Rolex 24!
