Clinical trial for trichotillomania at the University of Chicago

We are recruiting for an experimental drug and behavioral therapy study aimed to treat trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder) or dermatillomania (skin picking disorder).

Eligible participants will:

-          Complete study visits once a week, with 1 in-person visit and 16 virtual visits

-          Complete questionnaires and cognitive testing

-          Take an experimental drug for 8 weeks

-          Participate in one-on-one therapy sessions with a licensed psychologist for 8 weeks

-          Be compensated up to $255

Survey said that I am not eligible, I assume because I've had CBT before, but I'd be really interested in any trich related research. I live in Chicago. Let me know if there's any opportunity for me to help with this or other research. No compensation required, I just want to contribute to research on something that impacts me and a lot of people I know.

I haven’t had CBT and it also said that I’m not eligible.

I tried to register for a similar trial in Pittsburgh, got all the way through the interview process, and then they told me I wasn’t eligible but not why. I wish I knew why.

I imagine they can't share for fear of skewing results. I get it, but it still sucks.
