Places that have a meaning related to 1

What place names do you know that had something relating to 1 in its name history, I'm mainly interested in the UK, but other places are nice too

I know in the UK there's many Twyford's w/ Twy meaning 2, and some Sevenoaks, but much less 1 related names

I'll allow anything relating to unity, union, as well as loneness and singularness, or unit, or an stretch you think will fit

Here's what I found so far

Countries: UK, US, UAE all start with United, Monaco which is "single house"

Others:

UK:

County Antrim, NI (Lone ridge)

Aintree, (Lonely tree)

Onehouse (Lone house)

Onecote (Lonely cottages)

Outside the UK:

Een, Netherlands

Einhaus, Germany

Union City, various US cities

Unionville, Canada

Thanks, just looked it up, and One is also a Māori word meaning sand or earth, which is neat! I know you made a UK map etymology, do you know any UK cities or towns or places that have 1 based names

None really just a curiousity, also do you know any other numerical places in the UK?

that's curious in itself! it's hard to think of all the thousands of places in the uk and their etymologies and sort that data myself! only East Riding comes to mind...

there's some online uk placenames etymology too i've used a bit. i'll see if i can find it again

There’s the Nottingham English Place name key which is cool, but it’s only for England as the name suggests and it’d be nice to have other tools too, so if you got any I’d love to know!

Haha, tbf I found that site by scrolling through this subreddit yesterday so thanks either way, there are many 5s in terms of Fifehead, Fifield, Fyfield etc., I found it odd at how easy it is to find 2, 5 and 7 but not 1, but I guess when you have 5 of something, you’ll say you have Five hides of land, but when you have 1 of something, you’ll say you have A hide of land, which is interesting

The One Well in Helston, Cornwall. It's the name of a well down a lane opposite another lane called Five Wells Lane, which used to be called Three Wells Lane.
