Mod Post mod notice

for those with a lack of eyes: our allies are E, I, J, A and K.
There are no letter wars as of right now.

for those with a lack of common sense: if someone is not a moderator, if they are saying an official war has started or a new alliance has been made they are most likely lying.

for those with a lack of knowledge: alliances, in the real world, are decided between leaders of countries, the citizens only influencing it, sometimes having no control, the equivalent of that here is the moderators. Random people don't have any (singlehanded) control over this. But the community as a whole is used to decide, since the subreddits are about the communities moreso than the moderators.

I plan to incorporate more of the community's ideas about letter politics into the subreddits for real, I'd appreciate suggestions on that. I'm thinking letter ambassadors and stuff.

Also, the ally votes I host on one side are not just 'ally with this yes or no' it's a group of different possible options and one has to come out on top above all.

Will HEIJAK get a new member?
Probably soon.

Basically: “We mods don’t like your ideas and we should be the only ones allowed to contribute to the funny letter politics.”

It’s not like any of this has any actual consequences, there’s no reason to have a governing body saying what joke letter wars are allowed. If people decide that two letters are at war then they are, no matter what the mods say. This is some crazy power tripping.

??? every contribution to letter politics I do is a community vote and also based on what the community is doing, these people are trying to completely change all of it constantly

what makes you think people can put the subreddits we are mods of at war off of on a whim. If the moderators can't boss around everyone in this way why would individuals be able to? it messes up the posts of the subreddits with spam (Which is very annoying for mods and members of the community not in on their unofficial war), if we're going to do a war, it should be backed by the subreddit moderators so it can be hosted properly with everyone in on it, rather than a random group of people.

o also literally asked for suggestions in the post

when there's a standard for what alliances are what and what wars are on people can mess around with letter politics without having inconsistencies between what they think they are

everything you do is a community vote, but everything others do is deemed not real by you, is that fair?

they are individuals, not the community, and not the moderators. who makes that call if not the moderators? I don't get your logic

I'll say it again: If you don't think mods should be able to change letter politics democratically, why do you also think others can change letter politics on their own? It's contradictory. Those individuals are free to input on letter politics, but if other people aren't agreeing with them why should their changes be official?

And after all, we're the moderators of the subreddit, and we're the ones meant to decide the politics of our letter subreddits, so it's our call. If I wanted to I could make the changes myself without the community voting on it; some changes have been such as the current 6-member alliance limit which I forgot i did in a previous comment. But a subreddit is fuelled by the community, so I do it based on their input.

wars and alliances don't just randomly start because hovernment officials want to start them. it's usually due to the people in some kind of way e.h. WW1 ultimately started because of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. Citizens can't declare wars but they can contribute to the declaration of them.

u/zippee100 hmod Nov 17 '24

I meant the declaration part, the original letter war was based on the community's actions
