There was that whole thing about the Superman radio serial doing damage to the KKK's reputation by exposing their secrets and ridiculing them. I wish we could actually stop these people, but satire has its place.

Walter is not disconnected from reality. He is 100% tuned in and just trying to make other people understand. You can have criticism of his content but he's not disconnected. He also isn't making jokes. He is pointing out the themes of a work to show the evils of a real empire and there may be cringe "life is a movie" shit out there but I personally don't think this falls into that category. Art does imitate and criticize life so it's fair to use as a mirror to reflect back what is happening, but it requires good media literacy, which I think Walter has.
