This is very exciting to watch. My dad's side is a mix of Greek Orthodox and Marionite, though I was baptized Greek Orthodox. Watching this video brought tears to my eyes, just with all the persecution my family has receieved during the regime, along with many other Syrian Christians. And really, it's not just us - anyone who wasn't Baath or Aloweyeh was persecuted heavily by Assad's regime.

People are fully aware they can't possibly criticise Syria's freedom in any negative way possible.
This is all just political propaganda, reddit is very well-known for that and it's our responsibility to not allow them to spread false lies about our Syria.

It's going to be complicated, but remember that you all stood against Assad to bring him down, and you must all stand to rebuild.
That's a message to any people with religious fundamentalist ideas - and that's to any of the faiths in Syria.

What I think a lot of people fail to realize is that the people asking those questions are minorities. It’s easy to say you be fine, but when they look at history it’s shown the opposite especially how minorities see the sna. I hope the hts does good for all in Syria, but minorities have every right and reason to be worried and concerned.

Muslims and Christians united under their hatred for Assad, you love to see it.

I hope the best for ALL of them. I’m American (not a bit Syrian) and considering the shameful bullshit my country has been up to in the past 20 years (especially the last 15 months), I’m just so pleased to see some good news come out of the region.
God bless all faiths there and fingers crossed it only gets better and better for a free Syria.

Not officially liberated but there’s no Assad regime and they basically toppled the main Hafez statue

I might be mistaken I’m not trying to argue or anything but was there not multiple videos of rebels tearing down Christmas trees?

Regardless, I’m still going to pray for them. And the Druze, the Shia and Sunni’s, and the people. I truly hope this works out and Syria can emerge more stable.

Clearly these Christians are being forced by the jihadists to chant 'the Syrian people are one ' put up a Christmas tree and ring their church bells. Oh where is the West to save these poor people? 😁

I have been feeling so heavy since the election in the US. I haven’t watched the news and I have been grieving. This, what happened to our brothers and sisters in Syria gives me hope. I am so happy for them and sorry it took so long. Let’s get Trump to Russia as soon as possible and out of America.

u/Plastic-Ad-3886 18d ago
Hopefully they take care of all Russians that help to keep people oppressed under Sadat regime

Hey everyone ! hope you're all doing great these days ! Just wanted to say something and give 2 cents worth on this whole situation. As a Lebanese, I am genuinely elated to witness the fall of the Assad regime. Both Bashar and his father have long interfered with Lebanon's internal politics and security, leaving a deeply negative impact on our country. With that said, I sincerely hope that you, the people of Syria, will soon have the opportunity to participate in truly democratic elections that ensure fair representation for all. Such a milestone would be a significant step toward rebuilding your nation on the principles of justice and equality. Lastly, while some fear that Syria might devolve into another Afghanistan, I remain optimistic. I firmly believe that our shared Levantine heritage and culture will guide you toward a brighter, more unified future, steering clear of such grim predictions. Once again, congratulations on this pivotal moment in your history. As a neighbor and fellow Levantine, I am genuinely happy for you and hopeful for what lies ahead.

The rest of Reddit, unfortunately most westerners on Reddit see the rebels as “jihadist extremists backed by Turkey” and are therefore seeing the over throwing of a decades old barbaric dictatorship as somehow bad. Everyone is an expert on the Middle East on Reddit it seems, apart from middle easterners themselves.
All I know is that most here in Greece are celebrating for the liberation of Syria and its people. Decades of brutal, murderous dictatorship finally collapsed by the might of the Syrian will. Congratulations my friends, and to a better future for all Syrians regardless of their race, religion or ethnicity ❤️

Amazing that you're being downvoted for stating a VERY real possibility. We know they haven't done anything yet because all eyes are on them. Let's see what happens a year from now. Not at all optimistic and praying for the minorities.

I'm Christian. All I know is so far they've been saying the right things. Tbh I'm not optimistic about HTS following through with their promises, but for now, it is a good day
