the goat: horrifyingly ill conceived, ill presented and ill-executed ALL at the same time. simply disgusting. if this person is a cooking professional, this is like watching somebody kill their own career for no apparent reason

Itโs like watching a train conductor crash a top of the line engine. And you still. canโt. look. Away.

Iโve come to learn through this sub that Brazilian sushi is basically cheesecake with raw fish.

Why do Brazilians hate Japanese cuisine.
0
u/TheShadowOverBayside 16d ago
Which is funny because they have the biggest Japanese population outside of Japan... maybe they're racist toward them and this is their mockery?

u/mateusmachadobrandao 16d ago
This is not about mockeryโit's an experiment with shapes and ingredients. We donโt see it as disrespectful. Calling it "respectful" or not seems unnecessary because, at the end of the day, itโs just a recipe that dates back to the 17th century.
If someone cares deeply about following the original recipe, they should continue doing so. But Brazilians tend to adapt things in their own way, and if it's widely accepted here, it's because it tastes good and we enjoy it. And really, thatโs what matters most.

In Sardinia they eat casu marzu, decomposed cheese filled with maggots. They think it tastes good and enjoy it.

We are using the same ingredients as the Japanese for 99% of it, it's literally just shaped differently and might be breaded sometimes
We don't wrap algae around fried rats and call it sushi

50% of your sushi is cream cheese. The Japanese would never use cream cheese in sushi

u/deqimporta 15d ago
Well, that's the cultural part, ain't it?
It would be weird if a country that had such a rich culture didn't make changes to a recipe from the other side of the globe

That's literally made to fit the Brazilian palate, there's people here that like it, and people that don't (me for example) , sometimes yes , cream cheese can be exaggerated, but in others, it's not even used I'm surprised that when it's about Brazilians y'all jump to the craziest allegations against them, but no one is talking about Americans putting avocado on their sushi , nor anything. This isn't because "Brazilians hate japanese people!!! They're racist wraaaa!!!!" No, it's because here in Brazil, many plates were changed to fit the people's palate, while still maintaining the original ingredients or appearance. And keep in mind that Brazil, out of Japan is the country with most japanese people , so some of those changes, japanese Brazilians themselves like or made them, in case of some recipes, people just change how it's made to fit their palates.

So you admit that it's your Brazilian palates that are the problem ๐
"We don't wrap algae around fried rats and call it sushi" Maybe not but you do throw grub larvae on a crust and call it pizza so i don't put anything past you guys lol

Why are you generalizing it? ๐คจ.. all of your comments about Brazilians keep generalizing Brazil and criticizing Brazilians palate, that is based on our cooking and what Brazilians are used of๏ผsometimes because of our culture, like Brazilians mixing sushi with aรงaรญ ( a fruits juice who's native from here and normally eaten with flour or fish / chicken ) and etc.. I literally made you a text saying how some Brazilians don't like it, like me, and many other comments I saw in posts of this subreddit of Brazilians saying they dislike it, or Brazilians themselves posting things here criticizing other Brazilians. And literally saying how when it's about Brazil y'all always critique and say everything that comes to your mind about it, but no one talks about people in the United States putting avocado on their sushi nor anything.

LOL
Brazil defending its food is like Iceland defending hรกkarl ๐
Yes we understand you like it. And that's the problem ๐

Because that's their culture, and what's wrong with them liking it that way ? Here in Brazil we eat a poisonous plant, blood sausage etc, and some like it, others don't, it depends on the country and their people's palate, here in Brazil we aren't used with eating raw fish, so many think it's weird and prefer hot roll with cream cheese,, while others like it in the traditional way, like me, and there's nothing wrong w that at all.

This is just a change to fit some of their palate...? There's some that love the girls idea in the video, others hate it, it isn't all Brazilians that like it, and no it's not made for mockery nor anything, idk where you got that idea, it's just a change to fit people's taste

They actually appreciate it a lot, but just like japanese people with Poke which is a Hawaiian dish , they made changes so it will fit the people's palate more, this doesn't means that japanese people hate people from Hawaii in any way, just that they appreciate the dish and made some changes so it would fit their palate. In the video, for the girl palate, this is what makes her happy, while for other Brazilians no.

I love how her hands are trembling to not have it collapse. Looks tasty, but the design is stupid.
