How'd Taro get the ear notch?

I'm not quite sure but have been wondering myself! I'll have to ask his owners when they pick him up from boarding later next month.

You get to keep him until January? Lucky.

Yes, he is boarding at the cats only boarding facility I manage for a little over a month. He's incredibly special! He felt comfortable with his surroundings right away. He wants to be snuggled all the time. He will instantly climb or jump up to my shoulder, wrap his arms around my neck and rub his face all over mine 💘 I'm simply obsessed and will miss him when he goes home. But I'm thankful to be able to love on him for as long as he is with us.

He's an unbelievably handsome greyboi. You must love your job, it's a dream job for me, idk about you.

Taro has the same notch that my void Donnybrook has, I wonder if they were both amongst feral kittens that were rereleased after "marking"

I do! Although I would like to eventually open my own boarding/rescue place one day. Because working under someone else isn't what I would like to do forever and there are certainly some things I would do differently if I could.

Taro here is a pure Russian Blue so he was likely from a breeder. I'm thinking the little notch is a result of an injury he sustained at some point. For TNRing (trap/neuter/release), generally if a notch is taken, opposed to an ear tip when marking ferals, it is a more significant one. That way it is more noticeable from a distance so that people know they have already been fixed. While I do wish there was a more humane way to go about it, I understand why it is done.

Given that background, a bite from a litter mate or something? Definitely ask Taro's humans if you remember and want to fill me in. It's just a little bit odd to me to see Donnybrook's ear notch, especially knowing Taro isn't a street cat. My theory is dashed! Backup theory was a bite.

I can't believe how easy he sounds, btw. Just the fact he's cool with wearing a bow makes me glare up at the four little street siblings who refuse to wear even a collar.
