[Switch] Rogue Legacy or Spelunky

So currently Rogue Legacy 1 & 2 as well as Spslunk 1 & 2 are on sale. I haven't played any of them yet.

I love 2D platformer and I like roguelite/roguelike games. Rogue games I played and liked are Hades, Dead Cells, Vampire Survivors, Binding of Isaac. My favorite platformer are Hollow Knight, Ori and the Will of the Wisp, Metroid games, Ender Lilies, Shovel Knight, Donkey Kong Country Returns.

I don't mind higher difficulty provided it's fair. Got patience so don't mind dying a bunch. Prefer fast paced games but isn't a requirement.

Based on that, what would you recommend? Also with each game, the first or second game?

For me, Spelunky beats Rogue Legacy hands down. But you have to be ready for an ass-kicking. Rogue Legacy feels like a long slow meta progression grind for small stat increases like +2% dmg. Spelunky on the other hand is 100% skill based, and the only thing you unlock while playing is a couple of shortcuts to later levels (and discovering new ways to die).

Btw, there’s no real reason to play Spelunky1, just skip straight to 2.

Bonus rec for you: my favorite action roguelike after Hades and Dead Cells is a platformer and twin stick shooter called Revita. Definitely check it out if you haven’t!

Another vote for Spelunky 2. Possibly my desert island game. So punishing but so freaking satisfying when you put together a good run. The complexity of interactions between player/enemy/environment/equipment is seriously clever. It's almost like a playable Rube Goldberg machine.
