Don't get it wrong though, if it were more profitable to advertise for the stoning of gays or immigrants or whatever you can be damn certain they would. Now, in Coke's... defence? - that was clearly a winning sales tactic in 1930s Germany. They didn't embrace the Nazis because they liked Hitler, they embraced the Nazis because it was better for their business interests to go with the direction of Germany's cultural shift than swim against the tide.
Nowadays Coke wouldn't want to be associated with those sorts of people unless it once again becomes more profitable to market your product to openly horrible human beings than ones who aren't racist pieces of shit. So maybe in a year or two we'll see Coke ads featuring Proud Boys, but right now that's still not something the brand image department would have the right kind of data to sign off on.

Made a Twitter account like a month ago, because I wanted to check some content there. Without following anybody, I got all the German right-wing, conspiracy, and anti-goverment stuff on the recommended content timeline. Closed the account again ASAP. Pretty sure that shit gets pushed onto everybody. Musk is everything the right make Soros out to be.
I checked out a tweet from a local mayor making a positive but otherwise pretty mundane bureaucratic announcement, like a 4% increase on budget spending for wildlife conservation. The replies were flooded with people (with a lot of flags in their usernames) saying "why did you let [absolutely buck wild conspiracy theory] happen? You and [unrelated group] should be dragged through the streets for your crimes!"
Out of curiosity, I checked conservative to see what their spin on President Musk causing a government shutdown would be.
Their argument is that it's not Musk demanding it. It's the overwhelming will of the people. And their one and only bit of evidence to support this view is that they saw tons of posts on twitter demanding the funding bill be scrapped.
On twitter. The same twitter owned by Musk. The same twitter he openly manipulates to support his preferred narrative. The same twitter that everybody except nazis has abandoned. That twitter.
I know they don't argue in good faith, but given that they're only talking to themselves at this point, it's just weird that they would even bother typing out such an obviously flawed argument.

Yeah I don't even bother to verify if tweets are real or not anymore since it insists you log in to even see public tweets and accounts now. I just accept every inane tweet screenshot I see at face value. (Especially the Tate ones)
I have a twitter account exclusively for gay porn and get the same kind of stuff. Not only are they pushing out nazi bullshit, they can't even target it well
My Facebook feed is full of "recommendations" that are full blown racist, transphobic, or homophobic pages. Not to mention the plethora of flat Earth, Anti-vax or raw milk pages with a sprinkle or AI TShirt ads saying "I'm white, how else can I piss you off?". And all of those pages are run from abroad.
Social media has amplified hateful rhetoric by foreigners for years, and it's just fueling more and more strife in America. It's fucking ridiculous, I'm starting to agree with Trump about section 230.
My recommendations were all far right American commentators, I didn’t follow any accounts, never looked at that stuff while logged into my account, and to top it off I don’t even live in the USA.
Once it started to be 3 musk notifications A DAY I uninstalled it.
I literally only follow some game devs and artists on X and still get pushed porn and conservative bullshit. And when I say 'pushed' I mean I get goddamn notifications from them. I get more notifs from stuff I don't actually follow than from the pages I do follow.
I'm German, so it's more or less our local breed of shitters (plus all that Donald Trump and woke culture war stuff). I still thought it was crazy that it's pushed like this. Pretty concerning, I'd say.

I dunno, I just disabled adblock and visited Twitter and the ads I got were :

Some ad for cloud GPU access.

I dunno why Twitter keeps showing me the same weird looking boots, I haven't worn boots in over 20 years. If it's targeted ads, their system is broken as hell, but no crypto scams or Nazi trophies or anything like that.
Went back to try to find them, and no more ads for boots. Instead now it's all AI this and AI that.
Mixed in with an awful lot of anti-woke conservative bullshit for some reason. And an extremely concerning amount of people debating whether or not the USA should annex Canada. Man that site is a toxic hellhole. No clue why that shit is all over my feed, the only people I follow are Rocket League pros and the developer of No Man's Sky.
in fairness the real goal is clearly not conquering North America, it's destabilizing the US and destroying any remnants of our soft-power in global politics.

I frequent Twitter a lot, and I gamble (on a crypto-based casino, though I don't use crypto), and I never see any crypto shit or anything from Elon Musk. The worst I get is weird .eth friend suggestions with stupid NFT pfp's that post nothing but "GM". But ads? Nah it's the same stuff I see on reddit.

I saw it start amping up about four months prior to the election. Elon dumped $250 million into getting Trump elected, it was money well spent for him I guess.

So a funny story from my Navy days in the early 90's. Had a shipmate come up all excited to show me his new tat. I was shocked when I saw it and asked what he thought it was. He replied they were "cool looking lightning bolts. 😬 Yup, he sure the fuck did.
He obviously wasn't the brightest guy and it was a small boat. An FFG. Everyone knew everyone and he was one of those types who got along with most anybody. No one thought for a second he was a Nazi. He did get it made into one large lightning bolt not long after.

I redownloaded Twitter a while back to see if it was really as bad as people said. Immediately was met only with Trump, JD Vance, or white supremacist garbage. Even the porn was harder to get to.
So I'm not conservative and I'm always reporting stuff from the algorithm trying to trick me into right wing shit. Usually it's trying to be innocuous and one look at the profile makes it clear.

It also had German text on it written in old German Fraktur script. Which funnily enough was actually banned by the Nazis in 1941 but still associated with Germany since they used it for so long.
I actually got this exact same ad on Twitter a couple days ago and I only interact with queer people and leftists on there so it's not the algorithm unfortunately. I also reported the ad when I saw it but I doubt that'll do anything
my brother told me he likes what elon did to twitter and ive been so distraught over it. i've asked him about that since he said that and he has been avoiding the subject like he doesnt want to tell me his political opinions. the most he's told me is that "the left has gone too far" and im like ??? wtf does that mean? he keeps avoiding the subject and it's stressing me out so much.
I got a ton of dark MAGA ads on Instagram right after the election, despite being on the opposite end of the political spectrum. Also sometimes I'll get ads for soy bean planting equipment or lactation bras. The algorithms are fucked.

It does. But sometimes the connotation is too much. I'm of the mind that everyone should fight back when racists try to claim something commonplace as their own, racists should get nothing. But sometimes it's too entrenched. I think the word "Chlamydia" is really pretty out of context, but I wouldn't name my kid after a venereal disease.
I don't think this is a self report on Twitter. I'm promoted some terrible stuff and the only nazi profiles I click on are the ones promoted to me, and that's to block them
Never ceases to make me laugh when people tell all about their algorithm. My favorite one is Instagram you can see all the posts your friends have liked. I have found some interesting things about my friends I don't think they know I now know unwillingly.
I feel like this could happen to anyone nowadays with big tech companies constantly listening to us. One day you're just casually talking to your friend about WW2, as you do. Mentioning how messed up the Nazis were and talking about the types of Nazi trophies they took from their victims. BOOM! Now you're getting hit with targeted ads for actual trophies for Nazis. This made me laugh. I used to work with a guy who didn’t understand why he was always getting suggestions for gay bars when he traveled. It’s all ties to your search history if that’s how you have your phone set up.

Finally deleted the app when I one day I opened it, and right on the top I had groyper account posting an insanely racist image and one right had username "KillN******420". Lots of fucking Stalinists too. Like these people are a small niche even among far left and far right, yet the algorithm seems to uniquely highlight them. Fuck that shit.
Im black and I do not support Nazis in any way shape or form but I have gotten the strangest ads at times. Ads and ad making companies are not smart/smart people
