Idea/Suggestion Bout to start playin online, midway through chapter 4.

Any tips on a good and effective start? Thanks everyone. On my legion go atm. Love playing this on the couch. Happy holidays MISTER

Visit and loot the upstairs of the welcome centre in Strawberry for some basic consumables. Also, loot Rathskeller fork for some horse care supplies.

Loot the basements of The Loft and Fort Brennan for some special ammo (high velocity and express) before you can otherwise acquire it.

Leading your horse for about 20 minutes will maximise the bonding level.

Sprint whenever you can to boost your stamina, rowing, and fishing will boost your health.

Honestly, try them all to see what you like.

Early game, I suggest hunting and free roam missions to build some provisions and cash.

Free roam missions are paying extra this month.

Trying to jump between online and story can be a problem mainly because the difference in how dead eye works and some stuff horse related. I'd never discourage anyone from RDO but I'd definitely recommend beating the story mode first.

Play the online story missions, they're good fun. Do the stranger missions. Do the daily challenges. In your progress (start menu) you can reset awards for gold rewards. Some can only be completed once but any can be reset ten times. Loot everything. Hunt and gather, you'll need it for crafting.
