Tbf in Britain whichever party wins the right wins.
Don't get me wrong I'm a big lesser evilism advocate, but there is sincerely no daylight between tories and starmer. In fact he's as often criticising them from the right as from the left!
The Greens are the left choice in the UK this time, but they've no hope so the lesser evil is prolly the lib dems (as much as it hurts to say it :/)
Edit: she's also endorsing them specifically for Being right wing. Like she's just a conservative and conservative communists are in support of that

Concern has been expressed about a tweet issued by 'For Women Scotland' on 22 June 2024 and re-tweeted by J.K. Rowling. The tweet reproduces an unofficial summary of Communist Party policy, namely that:
"We [the CP] oppose all forms of conversion therapy applied to lesbian and gay people and we oppose including trans identities in such a ban."
The Communist Party does indeed oppose all forms of conversion therapy applied to lesbian and gay people. We also support banning regressive conversion therapy targeting trans people.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Communist Party supports the right of trans people to medically transition, to have access to healthcare and live equal, full and meaningful lives, socially, economically and politically. We believe that such liberation will only be possible under socialism.
Wherever possible, corrections to this effect have been sought where this inaccuracy has been reproduced.

Interesting. It seems the party wants to have it's cake and eat it too on this issue since the statement given to "For Women Scotland" is consistent with previous statements issued by the party (in an official manner). As they declare in their statement justifying their opposition to Scotland's Gender Recognition Bill:
"Gender as an ideological construct should not be confused or conflated with the material reality of biological sex. Gender is the vehicle through which misogyny is enacted and normalised. Gender identity ideology is well-suited to the needs of the capitalist class, focusing as it does on individual as opposed to collective rights, enabling and supporting the super-exploitation of women."
Imho the party is not really divided on the issue and is merely completely Opportunistic and lacking in any principles whatsoever. Even other parts of the quoted piece are irreconcilably contradictory - they declare their opposition to self-identification which form "the basis for sex- based entitlements in law to women’s single-sex rights, spaces and facilities" (ie, that legal identification as women classifies trans women as such) but two bullet points later calls for improving "the resources...for transgender people to transition legally". Clearly this is intended for party loyalists to throw one quote at one crowd and another at the other. Imho this is as bad as sincere bigotry

Is opposing trans rights not a right wing issue?? Surely that's fairly common sense lol
I'll just be very clear - she is endorsing them for a right wing tendency in their program. The left tendencies in their program (such as they may be) are of no interest to her.
Even if that weren't my (fairly obvious imho) point, dismissing the idea that a "communist party" could be reactionary is the same logic as "the Nazis were leftists cos National Socialist". After all we've seen communist parties support conservative governments before, we've seen them promote business interests and we've seen them promote racism, homophobia, sexism and other bigotries - often the same parties engage in all of these. Basically just because an org is called "communist" doesn't mean they're actually communist in any meaningful sense.
