Losing everything
I believe my son is still using. He literally would lose his head if it wasn’t attached. It is something weekly and I’m getting sick of it. Is this common?

When someone is actively overdosing and not just using they need a lock-down residential treatment center immediately. At any cost.

Idk I lose stuff when I’m stressed and not focused. I don’t think I ever lost anything when I was using. I had very little to lose.

Using what? Meth? When I was on it I would've lost track of my own ass if it wasn't attached lol I still have issues w remembering where I put shit and having to tell myself to go do something several times before I actually accomplish it. And I've been sober over a year now. It can take up to 2 years or more for our brain chemistry to go back to that of a regular persons, if there are other signs then he could be using still but if thats the only thing then it could also just be his brain is still kinda fucked up from using.

I lose shit all the time. Probably some ADHD or something but Ive used drugs to self soothe. Your own brain is the biggest bitch. Are there other signs he’s using?

Addiction is a chronic illness, like diabetes, hypertension, etc. It doesn't magically go away on its own. Chronic illnesses need to be treated medically. Until that happens, things will only get worse. Find a doctor in your area that specializes in substance use disorder treatment, discuss treatment options. Counseling, especially with a counselor that has a background in substance use disorder treatment is also very helpful, especially early in recovery.
