They’ve found something that makes more sense; democrats control the weather

Stupid is as stupid shrugs. That's just how they see it. If WE are the problem then WE should try to change. But if we pretend rainbows and unicorns and magic huge lollipops the whole place will burn down.

Admitting there's a problem costs the state short term and long term. Losing tourists or snowbirds buying real estate would bankrupt the state.

Wait until a colossal ice sheet in Greenland or the antarctic collapses and sea levels come up 10 feet overnight. I'm sure we'll see some mental gymnastics to explain what happened.

Unfortunately for the residents of Florida, the very warm waters of the western Caribbean will likely generate more tropical storms / hurricanes. Odds are that one or more will find it's way to Florida..
If that wasn't enough, the weather in the Atlantic Ocean off Africa is sending a tropical depression that could impact Florida too.
The hurricane season looks like it could tie the record for landfall of these storms on our southern coast line, or possibly set a new record.

Uh, you should check out the Resilient Florida Program. Signed in 2021 and deals with rising sea levels and flooding.

deals with
How can you say it deals with anything? Did you not just witness back to back major hurricanes going through Florida?
Whatever you think they are dealing with in that act, is clearly smoke and mirrors, no meaningful actions.

Perhaps the Florida legislators have adopted the Clayton Williams attitude, "If it's inevitable, just relax and enjoy it"

How many of those people can afford to move?
Selling a house might not be that easy.
Limited options makes denial look much more appealing.

Because then they can't take money from oil companies, and anyway they're going to be gone in 4-8 years. So why the fuck do they care. They'll sell you down the river and go sit back at their Mansions with their oil money while the rest of the state suffers and this is going to be on repeat again and again and again and again, and has been. And this is a global problem with politicians in general, they're only there for a short-term and short-term profits. It's inevitable. We're doomed.

So why are Florida legislators pretending like nothing’s amiss?
Because they are all Republicans! This state has been OWNED by Republicans for over 24 years. And when I say owned, I mean they have held a political trifecta of power -which is holding the Governers seat, a filibuster proof super majority in both the Florida State House of Representatives and in the Florida State Senate.
This political trifecta pretty much keeps any Democratic dissent out of the legislative process and allows Republican's cart blanche control to easily pass legislation of their choosing through both chambers and get signed into law by the Governor without much of a debate or challenge.
Also, because the Florida State Governor appoints the 7 Florida State Supreme Court Justices, that legislation rarely gets challenged and overturned by that bench. Of the 7 Florida State Supreme Court Justices, 5 were appointed by Ron DeSantis and the other 2 by former Florida Governor and now Florida U.S. Senator, Rick Scott.
Ironically, there are more registered Democrats and Non-Party-Affiliated (NPA) or independent voter's in Florida combined than there are registered Republicans but Dems and NPAs don't show up to the polls and vote. Otherwise, Florida could be switched from red to purple to blue within a few election cycles.
In the 2022 mid-term election, with the Florida Governor's seat and 1 of the 2 Florida U.S. Senate seats up for election and the fallout of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) overturning Roe vs Wade already known, only 52% of registered Dems voted. 52%! That is pathetic and a disgrace!
Most of the post-election analysis of that low turnout was attributed to Dems not liking the Democratic candidate Charlie Crist as their Democratic nominee. Younger Dem voters wanted Nikki Fried and because she didn't win the Democratic primary, those voters didn't turn out to vote.
We will never turn Florida blue or even purple unless we stop fighting each other, unite together, and vote like our lives and our precious Democracy depended on it! We need to vote like Republican's do. In every single local, state, and national election. Not just in the general election every 4 years that picks the President!
