your video levels are incorrect: 16-235 instead of 0-255. you aren't getting true blacks and whites

Solution?

idk, look at your graphics control panel and google where levels settings are located

On my AMD control panel it's under Gaming (for some reason)/Display/Color depth\Pixel format/RGB Standard(Full RGB). It was set to RGB Limited and videos looked washed out.

IIRC the default for AMD graphics cards driver was YCbCr, dunno why

If you're using an nVidia GPU, open the nVidia control panal and do this: https://imgur.com/a/EGDvHuo

I have a nvidia GPU laptop.. Gigabyte Aero 5 xe4...it's has Rtx 3070 ti GPU. But it's display runs on the igpu ( Intel i7 12700h chip and the built in Intel GPU) I don't find the settings that you have on your nvidia control panel

There should be settings in either the nvidia control panel or nvidia app that can control which hardware is used for graphics on a per application basis. I’ll look later when I get home if you aren’t able to find it.

it's actually nvidia control panel > adjust video color settings > use nvidia settings then go to advanced and put the dynamic range to full(0-255)

Did you try to mess with the HDR settings?

Use external player

u/cosmitz 14h ago

Only in 8 bit RGB mode. YUV is always 16-235.

2

u/Playful_Roof9931 10h ago

yes, but we are using 8bit rgb representation in web content or videos (ofc, you can have 10bit display or 10bit footage, but my point stands)

Posting it on Stremio sub would be more helpful.

I did and thought to post here also because it's one of the biggest community

Problem solved- Just changed the color profile to cinema classic in amd radeon software. Thank you everyone for your time

1

u/xSnakyy 1h ago

That might change other things. If there is a manual option use that and change the settings yourself

Yes it happens because hardware acceleration often reduce color depths in order to boost performance and save memory. Since this is a directly play back it's not like you can tweak some ffmpeg parameters to make it work so I guess you just have to live with it.

Offtopic. Isnt she that goddamn actor that played the absolutely hateable protagonist of one of the biggest flop of 2024, "Unknown 9: Awakening"?

13

u/Xenomorrp 17h ago

Same thing is happening on my windows 11 laptop..if I enable hardware acceleration on my browser all my videos have a slight white wash filter on top..if I disable hardware acceleration this filter fades always but the performance of the browser degrades..lag and stutter become much more...

Use standalone stremio(4.4 version) and turnoff HA if you don't play 4k then you pretty much fine. Web one is worse

1

u/amir_s89 16h ago

Will try this.

u/boogatehPotato 16h ago

Totally off topic and saying this from a place of genuine care, don't waste your time watching what Netflix shat out as "The Witcher" pirate the games and books and have a greater time.

31

u/fine93 16h ago

the whole trilogy is mega cheap on steam through

18

u/boogatehPotato 16h ago

True, and also on GOG I believe, which has slightly better consumer friendly practices. But I don't know OP's sitch so...

If you don't go into it expecting the adaptation of the games (or books), the series are actually pretty cool.

9

u/Vodkapencil 14h ago

Yeah if you put away the source material and think of the series completely separate, it's pretty decent, at least the first season. The second one was kinda meh tbh.

Personally disagree for a plethora of reasons. It becomes generic fantasy show with no sense of world-building, and the writing falls off after S02 E01

Yeah, i only played TW3 and the DLCs, but man, that was easily the best thing i ever played in my entire life. It was an emotional journey!

u/RichStatistician1171 12h ago

does it happen on youtube on brave aswell?

You have configured your encoder to do 16-255 colors.

In driver enable full color range under color section.

u/Fun_Confidence_462 11h ago

I'm using amd integrated GPU and I'm unable to find these settings

u/yJz3X 10h ago

Intel or AMD?

I'm curious on what you can do with stremio?? Can you stream from office to living room? Or is it just another platform to watch online movies? Is it a pay to play? Anyone have knowledge please let me know, and thanks

1

u/Fun_Confidence_462 6h ago

Stremio is a platform where you can watch movies of high qualities including 4k HDR it runs with the help of torrents

1

u/MadduxK 6h ago

Ok was looking for something that I could stream from my pc to TV wi-fi wise. Thanks for the info

Can anyone tell how do I know if stremio is using my igpu or my dgpu?

1

u/every_body_hates_me 15h ago

It just discourages you from watching shitty series like The Witcher.

  • Hmmm

Username checks out

2

u/OrickJagstone 11h ago

End point. Don't watch The Witcher, it's garbage

1

u/Pankaj135 18h ago

Which Cpu?

1

u/Fun_Confidence_462 18h ago

Ryzen 4800H

1

u/Pankaj135 18h ago

Laptop? With integrated and Dedicated graphics both?

Try updating Graphic drivers of both.

1

u/Fun_Confidence_462 18h ago

Laptop? With integrated and Dedicated graphics both?

Yes

And both of the graphics are updated to the latest version, Idk it's the problem with stremio from very early

1

u/Xenomorrp 17h ago

Are you also on windows 11?

3

u/Fun_Confidence_462 17h ago

windows 10

Man I was talking on HW compatibility standpoint.

NVM I deleted. I'm already now definitely shadow banned in this subreddit.

u/Aditya_Kalyanathaya 18h ago

Stop enabling Hardware Acceleration.

26

u/Fun_Confidence_462 18h ago

then it makes more load on CPU and stremio starts lagging for some reason
